Brooklyn also makes the list of most expensive cities to live, where Jersey City including downtown does not make the list.

Jersey City is less expensive than Brooklyn period. I was just chatting with a friend who lives in Bushwick and 4 or 5 peeps are sharing 2 bedroom apts because they are in the 3-4k range. Also there tons of folks who can't afford an apt at all and are living in RV's parked on the Bushwick streets which I thought was hilarious. I have 4 new neighbors only within the last year from Brooklyn and they said it was just not affordable and dirty.

A Jersey City man smashed his SUV into the back on a parked police car early Saturday morning when he was playing "Pokemon Go" on his cell phone, Jersey City police said in accident report.

The 42-year-old Tonnelle Avenue man was charged with careless driving, using a cell phone while driving and other moving violations, police said.

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (WABC) -- Two Torahs and other religious items worth tens of thousands of dollars were stolen from a synagogue during two burglaries over the past two weeks, the most recent overnight Monday.

On Tuesday morning, an employee at the Congregation B'nai Jacob on Westside Avenue in Jersey City came into work to find an office had been broken into.

A file cabinet in the office had been damaged, and silver religious pieces valued at $50,000 were missing from a safe. Two Torahs, valued at $30,000, were also gone.

Re: Republican Convention

Donald Trump's Real Problem Is With White People

Donald Trump needs to stop the bleeding.

Since the two parties' conventions, he has plummeted in the polls ? both nationally and in the states.

His campaign knows this. His new campaign manager, KellyAnne Conway, is a veteran Republican pollster well aware of Trump's deficiencies with certain voting groups.

Toggle more options
That's why there's been a concerted effort in the Trump campaign to reach out to black and Hispanic voters, even if it's been poorly received by many nonwhites.

But the outreach might not be entirely to gain the support of minority voters, who are deeply skeptical of Trump and indicate they are supporting Hillary Clinton overwhelmingly.

It might be aimed, in large measure, at white people, in particular suburban whites with college degrees. You know, people who traditionally vote Republican. They might be persuadable, given their past voting history, but they don't want to vote for someone who is viewed as a racist or a bigot.

Re: Berry Lane Park

Corey McDonald | The Jersey Journal

The African American Cultural Arts Festival is back in Jersey City this weekend -- and the event will help showcase the city's new flagship park.

The celebration of African culture and heritage, Saturday, Aug. 27 from noon to 7 p.m., will be the first festival held in the $38 million Berry Lane Park on Garfield Avenue.

The festival had been held at the Hub on Martin Luther King Drive in past years, but it was not held in 2015.

The festival will showcase numerous cultural performances and activities for both adults and children, including musical performances, spoken word poets, stilt walkers, dancers, and even a drum ensemble for the kids.

"There's going to be everything from jazz to gospel to hip-hop," said Daoud David Williams, chairman of the event. "The emphasis is on the celebration of African culture; not just of Africa, but of the heritage from all around the world."

The festival is free and there will be numerous food and merchandise vendors for the public, along with information vendors for different organizations from around the city and county.

Children in particular should be excited ? there's everything from a martial arts exhibit and arts and crafts, to magic acts.

The most fascinating and horrifying thing I'm seeing in this election is how consistent the Right is about believing crazy shit when all the records and known facts are against them.

Hillary was the 1st Birther!
She was fired from the Watergate investigation!
She's terribly ill!

Since they now claim every news source on earth except Breitbart is tainted, there's no arguing with them. The world of fact based reality is wrong!!

But this is consistent with their general belief in supply side economics, global warming is a conspiracy, fairies, rapture, you name it. It's really a belief in Magic, that if you say it loud and often it will become true.

Of course my favorite trope is the Family Values people saying Trump, the documented serial adulterer who broke up 2 of his families, is morally superior to Hillary who kept her family together in the face of her husband's philandering. The reason he's superior? She only did it because of her ambitions!!

The revisionist history of Hillary's career is underway starting with the Soros funded Snopes.com.

The new Joe Connason book release was delayed so they could insert the Powell SoS Dinner Email story.

All her political history is being cleaned up to sway the independents who might decide to hit the internet and research her background, especially after the 1st debate.

This illicit activity is not new, NSA Sandy Berger was caught and pleaded guilty to stealing archived Clinton Admin Documents.... this cleansing activity has the Clinton Crime Family fingerprints all over it.

Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.

About time, I like him a lot but we have said to him in meetings up here if you are serious about becoming mayor you will never get the Greenville vote being Fulop's puppet and flunky. Most of his support came from the south side of the city and most here are against tax abatement's DTJC or JS. It does not make any sense especially when there is a train station in the area.

Re: Democratic Convention

A map released by NBC News on Monday projected that Hillary Clinton would have enough electoral votes to secure the presidency if the election were held today.

NBC News said the Democratic nominee would earn 288 electoral votes, while Republican nominee Donald Trump would secure just 174. The news organization considered 76 of the electoral votes to be tossups.

A candidate needs 270 electoral votes to secure the presidency.

A good rule of thumb, given that you seem new, is that there are about ten regular posters from DTJC who channel Donald Trump. They've effectively taken over this site, and are terrified of everything. I've lived in Lafayette for eight years & have had a much better experience than in DTJC or, for that matter, the East Village when I lived there. Enjoy your area; it's beautiful.
