Wow....so great to read everyone's comments about the music volume at Bar Majestic. Thought it was just my husband and me YELLING at each other across the tiny table. Razza is a terrific replacement.

Yvonne, have you found any of the same issues with accreditation of charter schools in New Jersey?

I may be wrong, but I thought they said they were providing retail on the CC front.

Developers said it will be hidden by a 'green' wall.

Candace O and Rolando were there. They heard the comments, and know that the community is watching what they do. Comments and discussion were cut short due to time. Candace gave out her email address, and will also take all the comments sent to Vvpanews@gmail.com...

First step for developers is to reopen Redevelopment Plan at the Planning Board.

THe parking seems fairly well hidden behind the building. 175 units (or thereabouts) with parking for 50 something, also displacing the current parking. The corner building is landmarked and the new building incorporates it.

Seven stories is the current approved height within the redevelopment plan. Seven is the height of Charles & Co on the corner of Grove and Montgomery -- rather imposing building. Any developer who tell you it's not economically viable to build anything within the current plan is getting held up by the seller of the land. The neighborhood does not need to be sacrificed to top up the Del Forno retirement fund.

The developers previewed the plans last night at the VVPA meeting. The gasp was audible when they put up the street level design. It's huge.

If you want to find out more and hear from the developer, come to the VVPA meeting next Tuesday. Developers who discuss their plans with the community in advance of final design often receive excellent feedback and ideas -- and incorporate them into their plans.

Does anyone else find a bit of disconnect with the City approving every effort to 'densify' living space while attempting to maintain the Mom and Pop feel of downtown stores? I just don't get it.

My kids walked to school for K-12, except for one year after LCCS moved up the hill, so the notion of commuting across the river to high school when there were perfectly fine schools locally was not even considered.

Both of my sons got into Prep with money. One did the HAP summer program. Both chose McNair. My older son had so many AP credits from McNair that he started college three credits shy of full sophomore. It can be a pressure cooker.

On the flip side, plenty of Prep boys go to Ivies and other fine schools. Given the socioeconomic profile of McNair, you're going to find a lot more Rutgers, with scholarships.

Prep is an excellent school. Every young man I know who went there speaks highly of it. And as private schools go, it's not expensive. Do realize though that $15K is just the beginning. So evaluate whether you can take $70K out of your college cache for high school. What are the alternatives for your son?

No, I was just poking around recently for shutter replacements and came across them. On line comments are decent but anyone can write those. My problem is I don't think any window space in my house is actually rectangular anymore.

Re: Gay Men, Moms Sue Jersey City Jewish Gay Conversion Therapists

A cake is flour, sugar, shortening, leaven and flavor. It's measure, mix, bake...and sell. The baking and selling of a cake is the same regardless of what the buyer is going to do with it after the cake has left the bakery. (American Pie?) IT"S JUST A CAKE.

If baking and selling a cake for a same sex marriage is viewed as
"participating or endorsing sin" then why aren't they raising a ruckus about selling guns that might be used in suicides or homicides?....or are those acts NOT offensive to their "sincerely held religious beliefs"?

Delicious meal. We ate there because it just smelled too good. Hubby had the Bulgogi and I had the Spicy Pork....just the right amount of heat. Looking forward to the opening.

I'm agnostic on this measure but think if the city really wants to help small businesses thrive in JC, the focus should be on eliminating obstacles to opening in the first place.
