Re: Where can I live and be 25 - 30 minutes from Midtown?

i've never done the 99S. i used to live in weehawken and took the 123 and the approach they take to the tunnel took FOREVER, thats why i just take the 126 in hoboken, b/c they come in the back way. i should try it, but i haven't gotten around to it yet. is it frequent in the morning?

i work in the garment district and i live in the heights. My commute depends on traffic, but normally i can be there in about 30-40 minutes. I used to live on Grove near the path, and my commute was the same. ( I agree w/ brewster the walk up broadway is enough to drive you mental at 9am) Now I live right near the elevator (congress) and i just walk to the bus in hoboken (on clinton in bound and willow outbound). the walk to the bus is about 10-12 minutes and the ride can be 15-20 or if there's an accident you could be 45 but normally i'm ok.

i leave my house around 8.45 and am at my desk (42nd and broadway) by 9.25 (stopping to get coffee too). so its really not that bad.

if you're running a boutique, not sure of your hours, if you leave later and go home later, you shouldn't hit too much traffic.

good luck!

i had told a lot of people about the original date and made plans to be there with some neighbors, but then the mayor double booked. I had work commitments on wednesday so i wasn't able to attend, but its unnacceptable that he was the reason it was moved in the first place and then didn't even bother to show.

interesting. i will be at both, i'm working on a clever tee shirt. perhaps i should just wear a budweiser tee cut off and tied under the boobies so i can get the mayors attention.

why they gotta say "heights" seems that shit was also going down in hoboken. i guess you can't sell 500sq ft condos for 700Gs if the dealers are living next door.

seriously though, good news. damn thugs

eggz,
I'm impressed to see you admit to having a mr. softie. boys are usually much more defensive than that.

ah my bad, i read it wrong.

too bad you can't do anything to these kids, and b/c of that, it will continue. soon we'll be reading about 6 year olds sticking up adults for their mr softies.

i asked the same question "what about the curfew laws" at neighborhood/police meeting a month ago in the heights. Apparently you only get 1 curfew van per district. so they go out, round up 5 kids, bring them back to the station. Instead of letting a cop at the precinct write them up and wait for the parents, the driving cops have to do it. The cops said sometimes it takes hours to get ahold of the parents (why am i not shocked). So basically its all bullshit. you can round up about 5 per night.

If the juvies aren't counted in the crime rates, then i don't want to read another damn crime statistic, because they're irrelevant. These "kids" are a major contributor to the crime in our neighborhoods.

Honestly walking home, its the group of 10 15year olds that scare me more than a random crack head. At least i know with a crack head i can bust out my bob and weave moves and allude him, not so w/ a "gang" of 15.

thats why i roll w/ a roll of quarters in my jacket pocket

well there you go, there's the numbers, and they don't lie.
are they building bigger path train platforms? more shopping? How about fixing some damn potholes, i'm sure the richies that are moving in don't want their fancy cars messed up.
i just can't picture downtown w/ that many more people. good luck downtownies.

i just do NOT understand how they think they can fill a huge ass project like this. not to mention where will all those people eat, and what trains will the take to get to work?
i just keep seeing more and more building, but i don't see people trampling down others to get these condos.

I walk everyday from the heights thru hoboken to get the bus, and there's so many new buildings going up in hoboken, but the one thats been finished for about a year has about 4 condos bought. I know this b/c i'm nosy and peek in the windows.

I just don't understand how they can continue to build and build and build some more when existing projects sit empty. Such a waste.

ps. anyone that lives in the heights and takes the lightrail at congress, have you seen the new large hole that used to be a field next to the tracks? Does anyone know what this is? i would be SHOCKED to learn its more condos but developers never cease to amaze me in the fact that they will build a condo ON tracks, and then say luxury b/c it has a stainless steel stove.

Mary Capers, 46, Darrell's mother, was charged with riot and failure to disperse; her daughter, Shaquana Capers, 22, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer; another son, Stanley Capers, 31, was charged with resisting arrest and eluding police officers, Donaghue said.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM. worthless f**kin parents. Sorry i have to live amoungst these people, and i'm fed up. They let their kids run wild. i'm gonna start carrying a billy club myself.

tell them to worry about our own backyard and stop acting like a bunch of school kids picking on each other for hanging out w/ the kid w/ the boogers on his upper lip.

Politicians are worthless.

I'm actually thinking of starting to send my car bills to the mayor. The alignment, the lost hubcaps, the engine troubles due to off roading in a sedan.

Maybe i'll send him the bill to freeze my eggs too since we can't afford private school. we're just gonna have to wait another 5-8 yrs b/4 we can move out of this place and breed closer to decent public schools.
