Re: The Lamp Post or The Latin Lounge: SUV driver critically injures one after fight at 2nd Street b

I already said what I was trying to say, anything else is speculation.

It could be a complete coincidence that two people using the computers at the same company both register here today, both posted 7 times today, both post in the same forum topic, both have a similar opinions, and both have the same IP address, but do not know each other.

The IP address is not from Goldman Sachs and I will not reveal the company. I mentioned that it is a company to give the benefit of doubt that many people could be working there with the same IP address on multiple computers. If it were an ISP like Comcast then we could be sure that both users were from the same computer.

Anyway it looks suspicious.

I revealed this informaton in an attempt to expose the bias on this topic and prevent people from manipulating the conversation.

These 2 users choose not to post on this site anymore, I did nothing to prevent them from doing so. Did you presume that they were removed? You are mistaken.

Webmaster,
I do not understand your logic. Do you only allow one person per household to post on JCList? There were husbands and wives posting here. Roommates not allowed? Friends are not allowed to use each other's computer when they visit each other? Do we all have to have our own IP address in order to post?

I saw nothing wrong with their posts. They just didn't know how to ignore the know-it-alls.

New forum: President 2008
Webmaster
Webmaster

Experience tells us that for the next year this will be a hot topic so we have decided to add this new forum to the "Other than Jersey City, NJ" Message Forum. In this section you are expected to be on topic, polite, and constructive with your posts.

As an experiment in this new "President 2008" forum we will enforce additional guidelines:
1. We consider Presidential elections to be a serious issue.
2. We will not tolerate ridicule, unsubstantiated attacks, off color jokes, multiple repetitive posts by a few, name calling, posts void of content, bumps, or anything that is an obvious attempt to manipulate public opinion based on fiction or propaganda.

I realize that these new rules are largely subjective. In other forums we will continue to be lenient but for the Presidential Election 2008 we wil be strict with the rules in an attempt to keep this website focused on Jersey City, NJ and have discussion that is fair and honest.

I will start a new Topic for Congressman Ron Paul and invite others to do the same for the candidates they want to discuss.

Full Disclosure: I support Congressman Ron Paul for President, this website supports Ron Paul for President, I also post under the username "Falcon".

There are several ways to format in this Message Forum:

Above the message text box there is a "select" option change that to either FCK WYSIWYG editor OR Koivi WYSIWYG Editor.  Now you will have word processor type options.  Do not change this option once you have started typing because you may loose your text.  Also do not "Preview" when using this method.

Another option is to create HTML code with another program and paste it into this text box.  I think that BrightMoment uses this method.

Website Policy & first person banned on jclist.com
Webmaster
Webmaster

NONDowntown was quoted recently that he is ?trying to get banned? from this website. I considered him to be a valuable contributor to jclist.com but in recent weeks he made false accusations about me and started rumors about this site.

The rules of this site are not applied consistently and are mostly ignored because they are strict, I believe that I am lenient with the rules and no matter what I do I cannot please everyone. Anyone can see that this Message Forum contains (misspelled) cursing, writing that appears antagonistic, threatening, rude, argumentitive, off color and smartass remarks that contribute little to the topic of conversation. If I applied the rules consistently thousands of posts would have to be removed. I hate censorship and I do everything within reason to avoid censoring, in my opinion there is almost zero censorship on this site. This is a moderated forum and I remove few items that violate the rules that every poster agreed to and have remained consistent since the inception of this site. These rules are posted on the Registration page and require that you check the box in order to register to post. There is also a License Information link at the bottom of every page of this site with detailed rules as well as general guideline rules listed at the top of every Message Forum posting box. This is a moderated website and as a moderator I realize that I must remain objective and think of the audience while I exercise restraint before removing anything including duplicate posts, posts designed to be rude with no meaningful content, spam, and requests from visitors of this site to remove objectionable content.

NON wrote that I removed posts arbitrarily. False, he posted a youtube video of cuckoo clock as a reply to a topic and when I removed it he reposted it; I considered this to be a subtle form of harassment toward the original poster and toward me. He has posted that clock video at least 50 times before but I had warned him the week earlier that I was concerned that visitors to this site were being turned off by this type of ongoing behavior. People have written to me saying they were not returning to this site because of NONDowntown both new and long time posters; most recently ?CANKICKER? and ?Netflix?. It is my right as a moderator to remove his cuckoo clock and I expected that an intelligent person like NON would respect my decision knowing the context of our private discussion. To shed light on this situation I reposted the deleted posts on this topic for everyone to see. I am not posting the Private Messages that NON sent me complaining about this decision but he used the phrase ?Those of us so bent on destroying your website? and based on his recent actions this was not a joke.

In recent days NONDowntown used the Shoutbox and Private Messages people to promote his new website wiredjc.com and has encouraged others to do the same. I asked him twice yesterday to stop this activity but he continued and questioned me about the rules regarding these actions. It is clear to me that NONDowntown and others created wiredjc.com to compete directly with jclist.com and are attracting visitors in a disingenuous manner. For a couple of years I had a policy of allowing links to competing sites such as newportvoice.org; jcvibe.com; and getnj.com but the owners of those sites have not spammed jclist.com using the Shoutbox, Private Messages, and Message Forum for promotion as NON and others are presently doing. NON has written to me that he no longer intends to post on this Message Forum so I consider him to be a liability here and he is now banned for spamming.

I appreciate the thousands of people who visit this site. I have more than 10 years experience operating websites and have an unwavering commitment to keeping your private information private; this includes your email addresses, IP addresses, passwords, and Private Messages. I have worked in the banking industry for almost 20 years where I had access to millions of account holder records which I have always treated with absolute integrity and privacy. Many of you have noticed that jclist.com has incompatibility issues with certain firewall settings, logs you out automatically, and other noticeable imperfections. Many of these are due to software security precautions in place to protect against hacking and keep your data secure.

Effective immediately if anyone would like to promote or discuss wiredjc.com you may do so in this topic or by purchasing advertising on this site. The use of Private Messages, Shoutbox, or signature lines for promotion of wiredjc.com is considered SPAM which is prohibited and may result in offenders being banned.

I removed 66 posts out of 107 for the purpose of keeping this serious topic on track.

Many of the removed posts seemed to instigate a brawl and were off topic. If you want to have your posts remain they must be on topic, constructive, and polite.

Anyone who would like to participate in a brawl can do what the regular Jersey City bums do and have it in the park. Announce the time and place here and I will show up with a video camera.

The infomation we collect is what you give to us when you register or update your profile using the User Menu when you are logged in.

The other information is your IP Address which we would reveal to others ONLY if we were ordered by a judge in a court order.

I looked up the IP for GrovePath and can see that Verizon is their ISP and yahoo.com is the email provider but that is all I can find out ot this person unless they choose to reveal more about themselves. Another court order served to verizon and yahoo.com could compel them to reveal the name and address of the person that registered for internet service and email. It is very difficult to obtain such a court order and we have never been served with one.

We will not say that we retain these IP records and may choose to purge them more frequently if that will minimize our liability. We will do everything possible to maintain the privacy of those that contribute legitamate, lawful, and usefull information to the jclist.com website.

Another website operator is ordered to reveal information about Message Forum posts. He probably knows nothing about the posters identity.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1701351/posts

We ask that all of you excersize your "freedom of speech" in a responsible manner here. This is a moderated forum and any post that is considered to be false or slanderous may be removed. If we are to go to jail then it better be for a really good reason.

Due to popular demand we have started an Arts and Entertainment Forum. Thanks to OneSkirt for being so persistant and sorry for my being so unresponsive.

Please use this forum, and please no posting the same information in multiple places and limit advertising of commercial establishments.

I agree with the concept of people discussing events, and this is happening now right here..

Anyone can post a comment about an event, simply go to the page of that event and post a comment. The most recent comments are listed on the homepage under the most recent Message Forum posts.

This is a good idea and we may add this forum in the future, for now these items can be placed in the General Forum. Adding another forum will make browsing not as easy as with less forums.

We selectively approve events on our Event Calendar, we prefer the Calendar for posting of time specific rather than the forum because then we can easily verify thier accuracy and the calendar displays them in an organized fashion. We do not allow every venue to be posted on the calendar we try to limit postings there to venues of general interest that are art related and mostly non commercial, this helps keep the Calendar clutter free and easy to read.
