The scandal regarding McNair is how many out of town students go there. Many students with bogus Jersey City addresses get in. Also, teachers residing out of town get their kids in. Finally, the wonderful Dr. Epps pulls strings to get unqualified students in.

No great loss that Eden Baskets has moved. Their baskets had really gone down in quality the last few years. Capalbo fruit and gift baskets are superior.

One need only read about the on-going scandals of the Catholic Church in Ireland to gauge their moral authority on this matter. They protect pedophiles and rapists and then pontificate about gay marriage. Disgusting.

Jersey City Board of Ed gets 'D' for delays in providing service to private schools
Home away from home
Home away from home

By Melissa Hayes/The Jersey Journal
October 25, 2009, 2:06PM

Several weeks into the new school year, and hundreds of students in Jersey City's private schools are still waiting for the special education services the local public school district is supposed to provide.

The federal No Child Left Behind Act mandates that local public school districts provide supplemental education to disadvantaged and failing private school students, either by assigning public school teachers to provide the service or contracting with a third-party provider.

Besides special ed services, the local school district is also required to provide nursing services, tutoring, and English as a second language instruction.

The Jersey City Board of Education awarded several contracts late this year, leaving at this point, 650 special education students at 20 private schools without the services they are entitled to.

http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... y_board_of_ed_gets_d.html

This is the result of the corrupt Dr. Epps appointing incompetents to the positions of Business Administrator and Chief of Special Education at the Board of Education. It also shows that the new Chair of the Special Education Committee, Pat Sebron, is asleep at the switch.

Most non-uniform City workers make very little money. The big salaries are in Police and Fire. Add in overtime and the uniform services make up 80% of the City's salaries.

Tayari is a product of our affirmative action culture. This is especially true in government. It doesn't hurt of course that he is a high official in the Jersey City NAACP and can allegedly deliver votes to Healy.

Tayari could never succeed in the private sector. He would be laughed out the door at his first interview.

How about also having an investigation against the At Large Council, with the way they vote all the time there must be some link that they took money somewhere.

There will never be a recall of Healy or the Council. If you couldn't manage to defeat them in the election you certainly aren't going to remove them through a recall. But continue to whine about them if it comforts you.

I support Mike Sottolano for reelection. Mike is smart, tough and knows City government and it's operations better than any other City Council member. Mike worked for 30+ years in the City's Information Technology Division and is an accomplished professional. He knows the City's tax assessment, tax collection and human resource systems and procedures inside and out.

Mike is also a contributor to the community. He's very active in his parish and coaches baseball at Hudson Catholic.

Vote for Iron Mike !

The City's Disparity Study is a joke. It's a useless attempt to curry favor with the City's minority communities.

After years of affirmative action programs and minority set asides the City still needs to waste money on a useless study of how local vendors are not used on projects ?

HELLO !!! We live in a capitalistic, competitive world. Those who compete succeed, those who don't seek special privileges from government.

Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy was re-elected today -- a first-ballot win in a race with four opponents.

Healy, who at last count had nearly 53 percent of the vote, trounced his closest contender, former Assemblyman Lou Manzo, who had 26 percent of the vote.

Criminals in Jersey City need to be put on notice, that criminal activities will not be tolerated in Jersey City.. Let's drive the criminals, gangs and drug dealers out of out city. I don't want to hear shit about we can't afford to hire more police...Public Safety must be the number one issue on the Mayor's and our elected official's agenda, otherwise they are fit to serve the citizens.

You are delusional. You don't care what it costs ? Police/Fire are 80% of the City budget. And most of them don't even live here. But sure, let's raise taxes through the roof for your SURGE. Then the only people left here will be the criminals who don't pay taxes.
