Nice thread hijack GrovePath. How often do you patronize Larry & Joe's? It's a 'local' place, if you're not of the neighborhood then it's no use to educate you, you won't get it. "Those that know don't say, and those that say, don't know."

The OP posted at 1:52 or almost 2o'clock in the morning, a person with 8th grade logic skills would understand the shots were fired at/around midnight.

But crime is down - Healy said so.

yeahRight?

Cuz a 5 foot nothing girl on platforms and her gal pal can easily carry a mattress/box spring 3 blocks on a windy day with a flim crew and assorted hangers-on in tow.

From Grove the walk up Newark is okay, but I still have a whistle and pepper spray in my purse.
You can also go through the Mall from the Newport stop, it's quieter along 8th street past Hamilton Park.
That bakery is only open for breakfast and lunch so I don't know what that Heights guy means, it's not like it's Carlo's or anything. Just be smart, lock your doors/windows and keep aware of your surroundings

Isn't there already a thread about this redlight camera? , it seems that Jersey City is yet again lagging behind the rest of the world like California by about 2 years.

Theres tons of info about these cameras on the 'net. I read all about it on another JC message board. We're getting fed very little info and yes I suspect the delivery of this video like Ian said, but I agree with Viggo (sigh) that people drive Crazy here. I have no dog in their fight. tho.

For the record, I have never been to the Taco Shack downtown.

Didn't think of that - I suppose because I've banked on-line with direct deposits since I started working. My parents have checkbooks, tho.

Thanks!

Police Meeting at Newport Mall
Home away from home
Home away from home

Hello I am curious I haven't live here that long yet but I have noticed a pattern it's always on a Tuesday morning if I cut through the Newport Mall to the Path instead of goig to Grove street. What are all the Police trucks and cars doing by the McDonalds? I see there is a office there but I thought it was for the Mall police on Segways.
Anybody know?

I walk thru the park to and from work most every day, the tree is so pretty at night. But what's the story with all the pictures? I've been meaning to check it out but this morning it looked like they were all gone?

1. Not even the most effeminate dude in JC would name himself "snowflake20".

2. Not even the most awful boring dad in JC would take every chance possible to talk about his kids online, as snowflake20 does. It's a woman.

That said, as a former child of parents, please folks: Don't let your kids see you naked. They do not want to see that shit.

1. I call everyone dude as do my girlfirends. Obviously snowflake20 is a mother or at least seems to be here on the internet.
2. I don't jhang out here enough to know about that.
3. Agree. After toilet training kids should not see adults naked unless it's in the swmming pool shower.

ian u R too funny did you run a FARS query or do you just know Everything?

I did 10 mins of looking to find out: old school rule of thumb for accidents is 55% frontal/offset, 25% side and 20% rear. but 25% of fatalities occur in side impact crashes. well over half of the fatalities are single cars on roads posted 55+mph.

getting rear ended is much less injurious, for years cars have been improved to protect head-on crashes. and the forces involved are lower - remember algebra, " a 15 mph car rear ends a car going 5 mph?" side impacts, well, ever seen a quarterback lose his blind side tackle and get creamed? hurts more than what the linemen are doing every down I bet.

more: 40% of urban crashes involve either a car running a sign/signal and hitting another, or a car stopping for same and being rear ended. IIHS research indicates that red light camera enforcement generally reduces violations by 40-50 percent and injury crashes by 25-30 percent.

most of this data is supported with refs but you don't need an MBA/MPA to understand what we were supposed to learn in driver's ed.

At least being self-righteous and applying zero empathy for the homeless is alive and well in the Hamilton / VV Parks area.

These souls have no money, no prospects, don't want to be a victim of crime or out in the open exposed to the elements. Most likely they suffer from a mental health issue or addiction and the governments don't have any programs for those that slip through the cracks of welfare.

Instead of having an online lynching party, the discussion should be on what can this community can do for these people and how can we lobby government and private enterpizes to come to their aid.

If we can spend billions on war and propping up foreign governments, we should be able to provide support for a small minority called the homeless.

Don't drag Hamiliton Park into this, Ass Hat. I've seen enlightened neighbors doing morning yoga in the Gazebo right next to sleeping homeless persons on cardboard.

There is a shelter at St. Lucy's and Grace Church provides meals, the Salvation Army has programs, why not get involved and volunteer rather than whine about the unpleasantries of urban living. Do we care for your neighbourhood or just our neighbours who are like us?

Re: Hamilton Park dogs
Home away from home
Home away from home

The other morning I saw some guy who was letting his little white lap dog roam through the fenced in placescape.
This HOT guy came RUNNING in after him "Hey, do you mind not walking your dog here?"
He was dressed for jogging and I slowed my walk to see what would happen.
He must be as smart as he is good looking because he totally defused this older shaved headd glasses wearing dude.
Oh, and today some tall Asian chick had the furry terrier grayish 35 pounder on one of those fishing reel leases.
The dog was all in and out of the plantings by the same playscape. Gross.
that's why I only sometimes cut thru the park and never hang there, people suck.
Except for the hot guy - blue shirt, dark blue shorts, prolly married.

I live downtown and as I walk along Coles or Newark I can't help but wonder if I'm the only one who thinks the streets and sidwalks are filthy. Does anyone else feel like the city needs to hire street cleaners on foot? I'm new to the area and pay a crap-load in taxes; they certainly aren't using my crap-load to clean the streets. Check out the number of disgusting cigarette butts on in front of Lucky 7. Really? That's acceptable? Not to me it's not. What do we do? (and don't say go clean it hahaha).

AFAIK, the only city taxes are the property taxes my landlord pays from my rent.

The staff/patrons at Lucky's should be held feet to the fire to clean up their trash. If they can save for tattoos they can save there butts and throw them in a receptical.

Is that the place that was on the TV show for like one season.

My bike stays with me.

No this is by the Tiger Mart, just before the railroad going in/out of Hoboken.
The light at 14th and Erie has no turn on red, and no right turn during "rush hours" when the traffic is bad.

If you happen passed in the morning you will see the same 3-4 cars there almost every day, I don't think the lifeguards are driving a cadillac or euro sport-utes!
Lots of pools have a hard corps group that does laps first thing in the morning and I'll betcha this pool has the same.
Will it close after Labor Day?

um, Yeah, it Does, if you have a handicap placard/plate you must feed the meter but you are exempted from returning to feed it after it runs out.

maybe there is a MD or PT office near there?
