agreed.
plus, these darlings were videotaping the attacks for posterity. posting their names in the paper would just hand that to them.

Eireegal, the story about your staircase-to-the-future is so touching, I vote you keep the silver paint!

I'm no math genius, but if the figures in the article are true, Fulop donated $38,000.

No chump change there.

hey have you ever watched the Cartoon Network show Space Ghost Coast to Coast? the guy who voices Zorak has a complete S&M dungeon in his Atlanta basement.

don't ask me how I know this. I just know.

That's a great idea, actually. Is it too late to make a grownup jungle gym part of the new Hamilton Park? Venice Beach, eat your heart out! Thongs and body oil optional.

Here's a two-birds-with-one stone idea:

How about all you gym rats get out and run in the sunshine, on the streets? You'll get fit, we'll have a foot patrol, and you'll save some serious cash...provided it doesn't then get lifted from you at gunpoint.

Come, join us outside! The fresh(ish) air will do you good.

A sizeable group in attendance tonight. Curious to hear peoples' thoughts on Councilman Fulop's reassurances. Feeling confident about downtown's future safety?

composting in JC

Does anyone know where I can bring veggie and gardening scraps for composting? The Union Square Farmer's Market has a guy who takes scraps and sells dirt. Anybody like that at the Hamilton or Van Vorst Markets?

That's awesome that you're doing this. Lucky cat. I've been going to Dr. Tudor at Downtown Vet for years, mostly at his other branch in Hoboken (where the support staff is a little more sharp than the pierced and indifferent bunch he's got here).
But once you get past the front counter, your cat will get great care and attention. Good luck!

what's going on with St. Boniface Church?
Home away from home
Home away from home

the one on 1st? it's been empty for awhile, with only the homeless guys holding the steps up. this morning two suits were checking it out and taking notes. are they turning it into condos? the church would make a great arts center, in place of the soon-to-be-a-school-again victory hall. which of course leads me to believe it'll be condos.

there used to be a sax player on 2nd and Erie. now there's an opera singer. her rehearsal was the soundtrack to my walk this morning. neighbors like these make city-living magical.

Re: Do we have a dog leash ordinance in JC?
Home away from home
Home away from home

on the flipside: when I'm sitting on my stoop with my mellow, geriatric shih tzu by my side, I'd love it if passers-by wouldn't react as though I'd just unleashed a rottweiler.

I've had people walk by, barely able to control their lunging hyper slobbering boutique breed, take a look at my ancient pound puppy basking quietly in the sun (completely oblivious to them or their crazy-ass puggle) and say something about her lack of leash. I just laugh and tell them, have a nice walk. or drag. or whatever it is that's going on there.

But of course, everybody does think his/her dog is the greatest, mellowest, etc, and I guess I'm no exception.

Did anyone walk by 3rd and Erie last night? Was it any brighter? There were reports of a PSE&G truck lurking in the area yesterday afternoon.
