Glue Vandalism On Locks
|
||||

I'm DT in the village. The locks on the front of my 2 unit building (I own one of the units) have been vandalized two times in the last 2 weeks with superglue. The first time I called police non-emergency, but I decided not to file a complaint/get a police report thinking that it was just some stupid random vandalism (I know, I'm a dummy).
Today, I come home from work and it has happened again. I filed a complaint with the police, and they said this is the only building in the neighborhood this is happening to, or at least has spoken up about it. I'm at the point where I may spend my measly tax return on a security camera system. So... Is this happening to anyone else? Does anyone have experience dealing with, stopping, or preventing this? Can anyone recommend an affordable security camera system?

If it's true, I think it's an interesting development that city hall would want to include Charles & Co., Silverman, the Beacon, etc. on a monopoly board. That screams irony to me.
And since monopoly boards have lots of white space, residents can get out their markers and express themselves. Interactive art. I'm not sure if this is the intention, but #jcmakeityours.

I know this is futile but: Yvonne, how does keeping transgender people out of the public bathroom of their gender identity prevent such a horrible crime? An overwhelming majority of sexual crimes against children are committed by cisgender, heterosexual men that the child victim knows, not by a stranger in a bathroom. I don't see you advocating for all men to be segregated away from under-aged relatives, banning men from being sports coaches, or required police supervision of priest and child interaction. Calling people evil for having a different viewpoint than you affirms the weakness of your argument. It is particularly abhorrent to use "child safety" as an mask for your bigotry. It's like holding a fundraiser for cancer research and spending the money on a shopping spree for yourself. It boils down to narcissism. Lastly, it's clear that you don't know any transgender people, because I believe your views would be different. Get back to us when you're a little less ignorant on the topic.

I second Archer. I can't speak of the food, but the cocktails are the best in the JC (along with third and vine, in my humble opinion). At 14 bucks they are pricey, and most of the time out of my price point, but it's definitely worth it if fancy cocktails are your thing. Treat yo self! If you like bloody Marys, get the michelada at orale, g?ey. Skip Talde. Save yourself the headache.

Um...Michelangelo's Last Judgement on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican is full of naked and half naked people in close proximity to each other for christ's sake. His statue of David, a biblical figure, stands in full naked glory, pubic hair and all. Equating nudity with pornography is a product of your own perverted mind.
I do not compare these photos to Michelangelo; they're mediocre and derivative at best.

+1 Gypsy Grill >>> Ibby's
I respect Two Boot's owner's right to protect his business and respectfully explain his stance, but I question the judgement to get grouped in with guys like The "Bistro" and Ibby's. I hardly think trying to protect your business is worthy of a boycott though. I'd miss the pizza too much. JC is a great place to live if your polyamorous with pizza. But, I will say there are some brick and mortars working their butts off to keep their businesses going and gain new customers. Every time I'm at a festival, union republic is there hocking their pork ramen with counter marketing: the holy rosary feast, BBQ fest in Hamilton park. Were they at the Irish festival a couple weekends ago or did I imagine that one?

You are absolutely right; I did use that word incorrectly. There is no verbal irony here. I should have proof-read and corrected the missuse of a preposition instead of using the correct possessive pronoun. I guess I'll blame it on the poor education received in public school. But I assure you that I am a teacher, a music teacher. I guess that's where you can also attribute my poor grammar. But I also stayed within the confines of the English language and didn't invent a portmanteau to crudely get across my point.
So, how is it a teacher's laziness or incompetence that a school's administration exercised it's zero-tolerance policies? How would you have disciplined the the students for bringing in the pellet gun? I obviously wouldn't have handled it differently. Have at it. Please feel free to correct me again. I am becoming too complacent in the digital way in which I live. Happy Holidays!

No, zero tolerance means no weapons of any kind have there place in an institution of learning. It means if somebody got hurt there are legal implications for the school. It means Jersey City has a school violence problem and a message needs to be sent not only to the perpetrators but to the entire school community.
The reaction would have been the same regardless if it were public, private, parochial, or charter school, or at the workplace, subway platform, or Starbucks. If you had a child in that school that got hurt by one of those pellet guns, I think you would be singing a different tune. It is sad that you are too blinded by your ideologies to understand that. - a teacher

Just walked past the old carmine's location at 1st and Brunswick. There is a sign up: "Pizza lounge coming soon". I don't know how I feel about a pizza "lounge" but I'm certain that dtjc does not need any more pizza establishments. But I'm glad to see that the old space won't be vacant for much longer and hopefully they can set themselves apart from the many mediocre pies around here.

Funniest thread in a long time (probably since the port-o-john fell off the high rise) but I'm sorry it is at your expense, Santafe. Maybe you could ask your landlord to install a bidet or one of those toilets that's like a carwash for your under regions. I was always curious about them. ;)

It's such a shame that such a great location is wasted on people who are just incapable of enjoying it. I'm not going to be the guy who suggests that you move to the suburbs, but may I suggest a quieter neighborhood or perhaps Hoboken. Yeah I think Hoboken is right up your boulevard. Good neighborhood place. Eggplant parm sandwich is a once a week meal for me and the best in JC and for 6.50 its a steal. I've been told the chicken parm is excellent too. They have a limited menu so make your salad at home. Strombolis are 6 bucks and a meal in themselves. I prefer their pizza to most places in town including Buon Appetito and Helen's (yuck).

Did A1 keep your deposit in a landlord-tenant account so that it could collect interest over the 3 years that they were holding your money? It is against NJ Security Deposit law not to do so.
I had a landlord try to withhold $500 from me for 6 small nail holes in the walls saying that they needed to repaint the entire apartment. I got the full deposit back when I asked them for my interest, which they didn't have.
