These exist at a ton of MTA stops and I've never seen a mad rush to reach a train.

They're virtually useless during rush hour, but would certainly be welcome during non-peak so that one doesn't enter the turnstiles with 10-20 minutes of waiting in a tunnel without climate control.

Does your husband run with his phone?

Google Maps, and likely Apple Maps, allows users to share their real-time location.

That combo'd with ladybert's suggestion to choose some locations to expect one another should solve this for you.

Not really an option for you, but I'm curious if anyone has taken in the JC fireworks from Manhattan.

Seems like Rockefeller Park would be a good vantage point and as long as you time the WTC PATH correctly it should be a relatively easy in/out.

So for the cost of a renovated walk-up 1br in 07302($2300) I could instead take a 1br in Greenville in crappy new construction with such amenities as "wood-look luxury vinyl flooring" and "an activated 15,000-square-foot courtyard."

Be still my heart.

Odd, I just talked to the P&K people and they said they are definitely not planning on closing or moving, and actually they are looking to expand into an additional location. The pedestrian plaza and lack of parking is definitely hurting their business but they say they are not going anywhere. And I have also lived here for 30 years as of this fall. :)

Please let that new location be a P+K take over of Lee's.

We'd historically only gone early Saturday or Sunday morning to shop so I had never experienced this.

Went at around 5pm Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago and there were entire sections virtually empty.

I love seeing the people on NextDoor who call it a "Middle Class Gentrification".
Natives like myself have been speaking of the gentrification of Jersey City for a decade now. Many poor Jersey City families have had to move out because they could not afford it anymore. Most were POC but poor is poor and knows no racial boundaries. My family was originally from DT, and now most don't even live in JC anymore. Anytime I raised these concerns online or in a group setting, I was always told variations of "oh well, the city is more safe now and theres more places to eat so the gentrification was a good thing". Twitter (usually on Fulops tweets), NextDoor, Reddit it was always the same story. Now that the bill has come for those who benefited, we're seeing protests and media coverage. People in this thread and other places have been making the argument that "Old lady Sally has lived here her whole life, why should she have to sell her house". I made similar arguments for years. But in my case "Old Lady Sally" was "My Puerto Rican Aunt", and my argument fell on deaf ears.

Because of this, I'm finding it very hard to feel sympathy for the DT owners. The NIMBYS of DT have demanded so much from their politicians. Bike lanes, revamped parks, additional policing, festival after festival, road work. It has always seemed like a major portion of the city's expenditures have been centered Downtown. And the rest of the city has footed the bill. Not anymore.

I think it is simplistic, and not at all helpful, to try and cast this situation as a matter of race, or to pit competing narratives of a "puerto rican aunt" versus "old lady Sally". Sticking to the facts is simple enough, and tells anyone willing to listen the plain truth: the reval is a matter of fairness. Poorer areas of JC have subsidized DTJC by paying higher effective rates for well over a decade, when the law stipulates that every homeowner should pay the same effective rate.

Also, it is disingenuous to try and cast gentrification as a whites-only "attack" on a "native" population. Cities continually evolve, and surely anyone would agree that the JC newcomers are not a monolith mass of white people. To claim that is silly, and a distraction to this conversation. Heck, if anything, you could claim that a large amount of the JC newcomers of the past decade are non-white: Indians, Chinese, blacks, hispanics, etc. Anyone claiming otherwise is blind to obvious facts.

I generally agree with your sentiment, but must highlight the irony that you've already made it a point several times in this thread to say "the liberals" this and "the liberals" that. It adds nothing of value to the conversation.

I agree that the service frequency should be increased, but even NYC subway switches to every ~20 mins between trains ~12am-5am weekdays and the same schedule on almost every line on weekends. Some lines are better than others with standard 4-6 minute intervals all the way up until 1am on weekends.

Copenhagen is a little better with 20 mins between trains 12am-6am weekdays and 7-15 minutes between trains during the same periods on weekends.

You do realize that PATH is one of about 10 subway lines worldwide that operate 24/7, right?

In fact, only the NYC subway, PATH and Copenhagen Metro operate their entire networks 24/7.

Movies at the AMC in the Newport Mall are $7 before noon and you can reserve your seats ahead of time.

Pretty inaccurate and hyperbolic headline. They opened a new facility in Linden and offered the option for all 1270 Jersey City employees to move to the new location. They also claim that the majority of the 1270 have opted to take the move. Quote:

Blue Apron to Slash Nearly 1,300 Jobs in New Jersey, or About a Quarter of its Staff

The layoffs would repressent about a quarter of the company's staff, based on the headcount in a recent regulatory filing. A Blue Apron spokeswoman was not immediately available to comment.

Blue Apron went public on June 29, but the market has not had much of an appetite for the stock; shares are down 37 percent since then.

The company lost more than $130 million from 2014 through 2016, and lost more money in the first quarter of this year. Blue Apron warned in a June 28 regulatory filing that it might never achieve profitability.

Not at all an intended lie. If the board allowed edits more than a few minutes after posting. I'd be happy to edit it down to:

No, some are 'getting their panties in a twist' about the son, son-in-law and campaign manager of a major party candidate knowingly taking a meeting with a Russian government lawyer regarding documents obtained by the Russian government hacking the U.S.

Pasting the statute that corresponds to the actions outlined in the emails is pretty relevant to the conversation when you're trying to argue that the content being solicited is of importance instead of the act of solicitation itself. The bolding was to make it easier to parse.

Cool, let's say it isn't the hacked information. It's still a crime.

"? 110.20 Prohibition on contributions, donations, expenditures, independent expenditures, and disbursements by foreign nationals (52 U.S.C. 30121, 36 U.S.C. 510).

(g)Solicitation, acceptance, or receipt of contributions and donations from foreign nationals. No person shall knowingly solicit, accept, or receive from a foreign national any contribution or donation prohibited by paragraphs (b) through (d) of this section.

(b)Contributions and donations by foreign nationals in connection with elections. A foreign national shall not, directly or indirectly, make a contribution or a donation of money or other thing of value, or expressly or impliedly promise to make a contribution or a donation, in connection with any Federal, State, or local election.

4)Knowingly means that a person must:
(i) Have actual knowledge that the source of the funds solicited, accepted or received is a foreign national;

(ii) Be aware of facts that would lead a reasonable person to conclude that there is a substantial probability that the source of the funds solicited, accepted or received is a foreign national; or

(iii) Be aware of facts that would lead a reasonable person to inquire whether the source of the funds solicited, accepted or received is a foreign national, but the person failed to conduct a reasonable inquiry."

On the north side, the corner near Harborside 3 and Pier Apartments wasn't super packed and had a perfect site line to the barge parked just off the water in front of the Hyatt. Easy exit as this was the outskirts of the crowd.

I'm surprised no one got hurt as all the folks on the north side of the Hyatt pier rushed east after they realized they wouldn't be able to see anything.

This is hilarious, given that it was an ex NYTimes Pulitzer Prize winning reporter who was just fired from CNN for being responsible for-wait for it-fake news reporting!

And, no, the former great Grey Lady isn't just providing op-ed on the op-ed pages. It's all over the paper, every story is colored. I guess when your largest stockholder, Carlos Slim, hates Trump it shouldn't be a surprise. Or over at WaPo, where Bezos maybe hates Trump even more.

Not to mention, just today the New York Times quietly retracted their false claim that all 17 intelligence agencies agreed that Russia hacked into the DNC.

And just 4 days ago, they were snidely ripping into Trump over this, who turned out to be right AGAIN:

"In the Times? White House Memo of June 25, correspondent Maggie Haberman mocked Trump for ?still refus[ing] to acknowledge a basic fact agreed upon by 17 American intelligence agencies that he now oversees: Russia orchestrated the attacks, and did it to help get him elected.?

This is HUGE. You're telling me that only the FBI, CIA, NSA and Office of the Director of National Intelligence agreed that Russia orchestrated the cyber attacks??

The Coast Guard Intelligence and and Twenty-Fifth Air Force must know the real story. Can't wait to find out.

Yeah, I don't really understand your argument. Why should the same bands cost less money here than they do at the Kings Theatre? Just like White Eagle Hall I would never expect to pay less, but be happy paying the same for the convenience of location.

You either spent a few extra $$'s and a lot of your time (1 hr each way on public trans) or a lot of extra $$'s on an Uber and a decent amount of time plus $$ on the tunnel if you drove yourself.
