| Description | We'd love to have you join us at our next meeting of the Downtown Jersey City Watch When: We meet every second Monday of the month, 7 pm Where: Grace Church Van Vorst Sanctuary located @ 39 Erie @ 2nd Street Enter through red doors on 2nd street What is a Neighborhood Watch? It is neighborhoods organized to be the eyes and ears of the poice. Reporting suspicious activities and persons to the police as soon as they are observed. Neighborhood Watch is a great way citizens can work together to prevent crime How does neighborhood watch work? We are a neighborhood watch group focused on reducing crime downtown and making sure police, the councilmember and the mayor respond to our crime issues. We email police regularly with any crime issues happening in our area, and we meet as a group with police and Councilmember Steve Fulop monthly to discuss crime issues. We also have a crime phone tree, so that anytime you witness criminal activity you can call the police and your neighbors so that they can also call the police and be alert for activity as well. There is strength in numbers.The major issue, however, is that you report suspicious activities to the police. Neighborhood crimes are preventable. It is everyones job to discourage criminals. |
