UPDATE: 63-Year-Old Man Killed in Jersey City Hit-and-Run

According to Hudson County officials, on Wednesday, March 18, just after 1:30 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit responded to Palisade Avenue between Jefferson Avenue and Waverly Street in Jersey City on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Police say the victim, a 62-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at 2:25 a.m. at Christ Hospital.

Investigators said the vehicle is described at this time only as a dark-colored wagon, similar to a Subaru Outback.

Pedestrian Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle Fatally Injured in Jersey City

Hudson County authorities are investigating a pedestrian strike that fatally injured a person at a location in Jersey City overnight.

According to police, emergency responders rushed to the intersection of Waverly Street and Palisades Avenue to investigate reports of a person struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, police found the injured unidentified person lying on the ground after a vehicle struck them and sped away from the scene.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation.
