How Jersey City middle school students turned science projects into big bucks

A group of middle school students from Jersey City won big bucks for a science project aimed at protecting bodies of water from synthetic clothing material.

Plastic Elastic 3.0, a six-student team from Christa McAuliffe School 28, took home the $30,000 grand prize in the Lexus Eco Challenge, a national scholarship competition for teenagers in grades 6 through 12 from across the country.
