Ironstate Development Company, known for its Downtown Jersey City projects, broke ground this week on a mixed-use building in the Lafayette neighborhood.

The $84 million project, undertaken with joint venture partners Brookfield Property Group and Landmark Developers, is expected to include 309 residential units, 3,800 square feet of street-level retail space and 8,000 square feet of commercial space that will serve as the new headquarters for the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency.

The planned five-story building, at 100 Monitor Street, will occupy a now-vacant 2.7-acre site near the Liberty State Park Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Station and within walking distance of the Liberty Science Center and Liberty State Park.
