Join New Jersey City University (NJCU)?s Afro-Latinx Collective for the closing of Multicultural Month featuring a stimulating performance by Jersey City?s own Segunda Quimbaba Folklore Center in a celebration of Afro-Puerto Rican culture. The event will take place at on Monday, November 27 at 7 p.m. in NJCU?s Gilligan Student Union Room 129 and the First Floor Lobby. A panel discussion will kick off the evening highlighting Afro-Puerto culture and the current state of the island after Hurricane Maria. Moderator and panelists include Dr. William Guzman, Director of NJCU?s Lee Hagan Africana Studies Center, and Nanette Hernandez and Juan Cartagena of Segunda Quimbaba. The performance will immediately follow the discussion. Attendees will have an opportunities to make donations to relief efforts to support all of the recent devastations. Food will be served.
