I had to be up early for work this same morning, I was out th door at 5:30 so just a couple of hours after the robbery, and on Broadway and Romaine (near Tonnale) was a car UP ON BLOCKS! Passenger side window busted, the lug nuts lying on the street. Its dead at 3:00 AM on Broadway but still, this is a rather brazen crime on a well lit street. And its just a couple blocks over from the alleyway where the guys got robbed. I would say this is a LOT of crime for this area, all in the same night. I have only seen one other car on block in the last ten years, and that was in Hoboken.

THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM ISOLATED TO JC, EVERY TOWN HAS ROBBERIES.

True. But JC's "renaissance", like that of NYC, is tied in many people's minds with crime continually going down (a corollary to real estate values always going up?). So while statistically it may not be problem, it impacts negatively on people's expectations of the city, especially newcomers.

JERSEY CITY -- Four people were robbed at gunpoint in three separate incidents early this morning, including one that took place near the Journal Square PATH Station, police said.

Cellphones were reported stolen in the three robberies, which occurred within a two-hour window of time. Police believe at least two of the robberies were carried by the same suspect.

At about 3 a.m., two men -- ages 25 and 27 -- were walking home from the Journal Square PATH station through an alley near the Loews Jersey Theatre when they heard someone running behind them, police said.
