They have a warehouse in NJ so shipping is fast. I bought 12" x 24" porcelain tiles for my kitchen. Shipping costs depends on the weight and quantity of the tiles. I needed 96 sq ft and the minimum order was 112 sq ft. That was ok since I wanted to have a few extra tiles in case I needed to replace any tiles in the future.

No issues with color or quality buying sight unseen?

seems like a gamble with tile.

You can ask for sample tiles they will send 5 for free. I asked for 3 samples and showed them to a friend who is a kitchen designer and he said to order the tiles from this site. He thought the tile quality was very high.

Existing floor is VCT tile and it gave a good 10 years worth of use - other than laying actual ceramic / porcelain tiles what is another long term durable option ?

I just finished a kitchen renovation and bought my flooring at this site. They have a huge selection of high quality floors and is a great way to see what is available.

Where are they located and what was the shipping cost & tax charged?

I did a public hallway last year with the 12" x 24" 5mm click vinyl planks from Lumber Liquidators. So far so good. Needs less floor prep than VCT and more easily reversed as it is a floating floor. A little trickier to install than regular laminate but not too bad once you get the hang of it.

They're an online wholesaler, based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Several warehouses in the U.S., including one in NJ. Link is here: http://www.builddirect.com/Contact#warehouseLocations

If you just have a small space to do, like an entry hallway, they're not for you: Minimum order varies, but I saw a bunch at 900 square feet minimum. That was about 35 boxes.

Shipping from the NJ warehouse shouldn't be much, but they deliver to the curb and you have to lug it all in and either install it yourself or hire a contractor...

Why not another vinyl floor?

Leaning that way but perhaps there is another better option I'm missing.

Even vinyl planks that are newer to the market would work and take less time to set.
