Maybe try the Wood Shed in Weehawken. They've done some custom work for us before (much simpler than shutters), the prices were reasonable and they actually did it while we waited. We brought a piece of wood that had some detailing to it and asked them to make us six more. Nice people.

Bring them a shutter. Maybe they'd have suggestions for refurbishing, as well.

I noticed beautiful shutters on houses about 5 doors down from Basic on 8th Street. One set were solid, the other louvered. Perhaps you could leave a note and find out where they got them. They were beautiful.

Reached out to the company above, received a quote for ~$15000 for 6 sets of pocket shutters. How is that possible? Maybe I chose the wrong line of business. back to the drawing board. Need to reconsider refurbishing the current ones I have rather than replacing them.

Yeah, that's my fear as well. I just gave them a call and they seem to be very helpful and prices seem more in line with what i was thinking. I need to play with the site since they seem to have many interactive tools.

I did not check big box stores. It may be worth a try, however the windows are not standard sizes therefore they would most likely have to be custom. I assume I'm not the first one to attempt to replace existing shutters. I located a company in Red Hook that also does them and they quotes me $0.79 sq/in which at first did not sounds too bad until I did the math cost per window. It's crazy that the shutters will cost me more than the windows themselves (historic Marvin). Yes, the windows are large however it's hard for me to justify spending $10K to replace the shutters. I was hoping others had already went throught his exercise with better success and found a supplier with more a reasonable price.

Maybe an architectural salvage place. I doubt if off the shelf stuff will work. You need a shutter that fits across the window and which has individual panels no wider than the pocket.

Any recommendations of companies that produce and/or repair shutters for old brownstone windows? A contractor had recommended reaching out to Garfield lumber millwork and I received an insane quote for $2000+ per window.
