You're not a lazy bum! I have had good luck with Ann's Rubbish Removal.
They are a mom-and-pop operation (Ann answers the phone, her husband and son
do the actual junk removal) - I have used them twice, once for
a big load of crap like the stuff you are describing that was in a
big heap in my garage, and once for yard garbage/tree parts etc.

They will come to look at what you've got and give you a price
(I think minimum is $150) - then if you agree to the price,
they'll take it away. Both times I've used them they've been
prompt and helpful, and even swept up the area when they were
finished. They do bring a big truck though, so if you don't
have a driveway you might want to get a no parking
sign from the JCPA for when they come.

Their number is 877-652-6674.

I used Reliable Jim's once. (201) 736-7301. They are in JC. They are licensed and insured.

I had them haul away a mattress, box spring, an old bureau, and a few other heavy items. I'm on the 3rd floor with no elevator. They were in and out within half an hour. I was charged around $250. Much cheaper than 1-800-Got-Junk.

Great, thank you for the info. For the city to PU, I would have to dismantle and load everything into cans and put them on the sidewalk. I am looking for someone who will do all of that for me.

Not lazy or anything like that, but

1) I do not have the time
2) I do not have the heavy tools required to break down all the stuff
3) the backyard is pretty disgusting, with all the exposure to the elements

So the risk of me getting cut and infected with some thing will be high, so i rather pay $ and have it done for me.

Sorry if I sound like a lazy bum, I am not! :)

JCIA are pretty good so long as you give them a call in advance. They'll haul away your stuff for free.

Through its contractor, Regional Industries, JCIA is responsible for the collection and disposal of all residential and small store waste not exceeding six garbage cans per collection day. Curbside collection is provided twice a week, including holidays.

Bulk waste removal (appliances, furniture, etc.) is also collected during these two pickups. We do require that you notify Jersey City Incinerator Authority at (201) 432-4645 ext. 600, to schedule a bulk waste pickup.

Some appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners are considered recyclable items and are not to be placed out for garbage collection. Such a pickup must also be scheduled in conjunction with your recycling collection day by calling the JCIA at (201) 432-4645 ext. 600.
