We used grubhub.com to order & had no issues. Delivery was fast, food was packaged well. Very happy customer!

edit: Just checked & looks like delivery.com also has them listed for delivery option!

Other than the table waiter service, I found Taqueria to be precisely the same as it was pre-Sandy. Maybe a few of the decorations are different and there are more people drinking at the bar but, other than that, it's the same old place.

just went for the first time since they reopened, post-flood, and it was really great. I'm partial to the pork tacos (chorizo good also), my wife liked the pork and fish ones best, we will definitely be back again soon.

long live Taqueria Jersey City!

Red Hook is probably the worst possible reference point for the close/convenient argument.

Sad... And people complain about the attitude from Taqueira. personally, I think some of the stuff written here is above and beyond what Taqueira dishes out (and I don't mean their tacos).

I don't think it is so much that people love/hate Taqueria. They just love to dish smack on this thread.

Has anyone noticed the tacos have gotten smaller?? Wonder if they thought, after being closed for six months, their customers wouldn't notice.

Still delicious however.

Not for nothing, I have no idea why a dark hole in the wall with average food at best, gets so much love on this site.

Taqueria is mediocre, not so good, but not terrible either.

Stop buggin people, and by the way, there are better options downtown. I'm not going to get everyone up in arms and throw names around, but they exist...

I wish this was posted about an hour prior to my walk over for my favorite tacos. Which I also ventured out to dismay on Monday :,(

I arrived at Taqueria tonight at 9 pm and they were closed, gate down and everything. Do they always close so early during the week? What are their hours?

I've been there two times since reopening. Once we were seated immediately at the only two remaining seats (on a very busy Thursday night) right in front of the TV at the counter thingy. This past Saturday we had to wait about 5 minutes for them to clear a table. But I'm sure there are times with much longer waits. I'd imagine whatever they tell you the wait is, it's probably more or less accurate.

And sometimes the line by the door is the line for take out, not for a table, so just make sure to ask people what they are waiting for and get on the correct line.

They were for most of their existence but had opened up on Mondays for at least several months before the Sandy closure. I guess they reverted back.

Are they doing weekday lunch service yet? Tried calling but keep getting the machine.

Question . . . are they now closed on Mondays? Stopped by last night and was sadly disappointed as they were closed.

Tommy,
Having to wait on line for your food, and people being antsy about sitting down, that no longer exists. You go right to the table. Unless you mean paying a tip, or having to leave after getting your tab as being less relaxing.

It's odd. Reading that would make me think the same thing but it remains as casual and wonderful as ever. Waiter service sounds too formal-- it's more like someone roves the floor taking orders/dropping checks. I doubt they'd need more than two people doing it during a packed dinner service.

Sweet Jesus the margaritas are wonderful. And the new flank steak taco is amazing. Life is worth living again.

We ate at Taqueria last night and I must say that the service was 1000 times (*approx.) better than before the storm. And the food was just as good as before. The line was mostly for take away orders - we came right in and sat down.

Do you mean "Tres Chilitos?" "Tres Cholitos" would have a whole different, pretty derogatory, meaning. Hope they didn't call it that.

Thanks for the recommendation. I tried them today (not the pumpkin flower but the spicy pork) and they were quite good. I'm a fan of Taqueria, but Tres Cholitos' tacos were definitely much less greasy.

Does anyone know how to replicate the hot sauce at Taqueria? If I could do that, I'd just make my own dang tacos. [/quote]
