Three Jersey City residents are in custody after they robbed and kidnapped a woman at gunpoint earlier this week, taking her for a wild ride around Hudson County before letting her go, according to police.

Det. Geoffrey Cole of the Bogota police said the 25-year-old victim came in to the station just after 2 p.m. Tuesday to report that she had been held hostage that morning.

She had been home just after 9 a.m. when a woman posing as an Avon salesperson knocked on her door. When the victim told her she wasn't interested, a man approached with a handgun, pushing her inside, Cole said.

After taking some of her possessions, the trio forced the woman into her car, continuing to hold her at gunpoint as they drove around before dropping her in Jersey City unharmed at around 11 a.m.

The woman recognized her kidnappers as former co-workers of her boyfriend, and Capt. James Sepp, Sgt. Daniel Maye and Officer Hector Liriano were able to track down one of them, 24-year-old Jean Marie Theophile, at his workplace in North Bergen Tuesday night.

His accomplices, 24-year-old Spring Funches-Mikell and 27-year-old Jeff Theophile, turned themselves in last night, according to Cole.

All three are charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. They are being held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bail.
