So much for the journalistic skill of observation. Did this guy NOT notice anything about the neighborhood demographics as soon as he got off the train (or even on the train itself)? Or are we supposed to just feel honored that the Voice deigned to even ride the PATH? News tip to the Village Voice: the cinema at Newport Mall shows Bollywood films from time to time.

Yep. And for whatever reason many stores on Brighton Beach cater to the Russians.

This is truly a mystery wrapped in enigma and served with borsht.

Not a very credible article, but got this part right: " Some of the Indo-Chinese stuff is truly awful..."

I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food.

Neither of those places are very good, but it's a mall food court, so wtf expects more?

Also lol at "caters to middle-class indians". Yea, like the McD's, Taco Bell, Sbarro's and BK that have been there since the mall opened? Like the Johnny Rockets that opened up a year or two ago? Pretty funny how two joints out of ~20 is suddenly catering to picky indians.
