Although my daughter did not attend the school, I've heard a lot of praise from the parents in our Hamilton Park neighborhood for the Learning Community Charter School:

It's located at 2495 Kennedy Boulevard, and I believe there is a lottery system to get in.

Aren't all the schools equaly supported by the state ? Why should one public school be any more productive than the other here in J.C.

my family and I are looking to buy a home in the JC area, our son is 2, so school zones are a big consideration for us.
I was hoping some people might be able to give us insight in to the local schools.
Based purely on test scores (and I realize, test scores are not the be-all and end-all), it seems the best public schools outside of downtown (which is out of our price range) are Number 33 Elementary (Lincoln Park) and Martin Luther King number 11 elementary (Journal Sq).
Can anyone offer their personal opinions on these two schools?
I see on the map that the zone for school 33 overlaps with number 24, which gets a lower grade - is 33 difficult to get in to for this reason?
and lastly, has anyone got insight in to any other schools which are doing amazing things, particularly in the Heights area?
