Typical behavior considering developers hire off-duty cops to provide private security and private traffic control.

It's ridiculous. The truck I saw today was a regular flatbed that was empty and headed toward the waterfront on the Mall Road. The JCPD cars had lights and sirens blaring and were flying for no reason as the truck had tires squealing around that sharp curve near the embankment. They truly are like big children.

I mentioned this to my wife later and she told me she saw something similar the other day on Washington Blvd involving a JCPD car and van escorting flatbeds with backhoes. So there's no real emergency? it's just cops helping contractors drive dangerously for fun and putting citizens at risk? WTF?
I saw that on Washington as well. I can understand the escort since it was a HUGE bulldozer that wouldn't have fit in a single lane, but yeah they were flying down the road.

It?s an escort for the gas pipeline trucks. They must be escorting them from the Newport area back to their ?home base? on Chapel. I was DT today and saw it. I was on Pacific to Johnston it was up ahead of me. I saw the big flat bed with the huge backhoe on it. I kept hearing sirens and started looking out for MC ambulances. It turned out to be the cop car putting on its lights and sirens at every intersection. They turned off at Communipaw (because it couldn?t make it under that bridge on Johnston) I kept going on to Phillips. We met again when I had to stop on green near the LSC while the cop put his lights and sirens on so the truck could make a very wide fast turn back onto Phillips. I than was behind them onto Burma Road and Caven Point Road. They pulled over and went into that section of Caven Point Road that is still closed by Chapel Ave. (near the soccer field) What was the rush and need for the escort? Did they think people were going to rise up and throw stones at them?

PS- I am an old school JC guy who likes..err liked the wild crap growing on the side of some of the roads of JC. The railroad trees , weeds, reeds, all kinds of wild stuff along with old fencing and poles.I think it sucks that the pipeline people cleared out all of the foliage growing along Caven Point Road replacing it with grass seed. How boring!
