A day of extremely high temperatures gave way to thunderstorms this afternoon, creating problems in homes and on roadways.

A sinkhole on the northbound side of Route 1&9 Truck Route in Jersey City has been reported, the state Department of Transportation reported on its 511.com website.

The sinkhole is located on the roadway approaching Route 440 in Jersey City. Center lane closed.

Jersey City Fire Director Armando Roman said his department has received numerous calls of flooded basement and leaks in apartments

Full JJ piece?..(check out the pictures of Sip and Westside, it has flooded like that for 50+ years)
