Wouldn't be surprised. Went once, very corporate. Love it when it was pizzaria uno. We got horrible unattentive service with no personality. And the food we got took forever and seemed to come straight from a BJs/Costco package.

I don't think so? I haven't heard anything about that.

I like the place, and it's got a good selection of beer and whiskey, but everything is too expensive by about $1-2. I'll drink 3 $6 beers. I'll drink maybe one $8 beer.

Food I've had is pretty delicious, btw.

Here's my thing: from the outside, it couldn't be less inviting. The windows are practically boarded up so you can't even tell if it's open or not.
They say don't judge a book by it's cover, but I'm guilty of doing that and nothing about it makes me want to go in.

I guess this is a bar, not a restaurant as they think they are.

I have been 3 times. Just because I want it to be so much better than it is. But it's not.

The staff could care less if you died or not. If your OK with that, then go. The beer is good.

Is there a manager there? Not sure. I feel like I am going to a keg party, and it you don't know the password, you don't matter.

I would love to eat there, the staff just does not seem to care if I do.

I dragged this thread out again two weeks ago because we stopped by for brunch. And I'll say it again, the brunch is absolutely worth a trip as it's delicious and priced right. I say that because I want them to continue serving brunch because I want to continue going there. So I admit it's purely for my own selfish reason I'm trying to promote them.

We've only eaten there one other time and that was when they first opened. While we thought the food was top quality we thought it was a little overpriced. Brunch is not! And it's delicious!

Did I mention how good the food is?

The music can be hit or miss. I've been in there when it's been good and awful. Yes, Barcade's is better.
But with 40 craft beers on tap, how can you honestly say it was lackluster? I'd be willing to bet that on any given day they have half the same craft beers as Barcade.

I think HopScotch's concept is a good one, maybe even a great one, but it's in the wrong location. The building it's in, as well as the signage, makes the place appear to be a chain type of place. If the spot was on Newark Ave, Grove Street, or one of the surrounding streets, I think they would do a lot better.

In an urban city like JC, I think it's in a bar/restaurant's best interest to be in close proximity to OTHER similar establishments.

Y'all better not drink Saigon out of good whiskey just because I tipped you off. But yeah, the owners are into their whisky...ask about their Japanese selection.

Glad others like HS, but I don't see the need to go back. Saigon Cafe on the other hand .. .

I went here once. I think for what they charge for craft beer and whiskey you are much better off going to places like Iron Monkey or Barcade for beer, and Saigon Cafe for whiskey. They measure their pours to the milliliter at this place and it's depressing what an actual single oz. of scotch looks like. I'm used to my heavier pour at home and at places like Saigon.

My GF and I think they actually have some of the best bar food in town. The burgers and sandwiches are tasty and they have one of the few salads I actually like, so that counts for something.
I of course like the beer selection, but I do wish they offered cheaper goto drafts like Sam Adams or something for 5 bucks.
I think they only offer PBR and Guinness in that price range.
The beer is what knocks up my check price everytime, but hey I am glad I was able to check out a beer like Dogfish Head Positive Contact there.

I love this place and don't find the price point more expensive than any other place I spend my money downtown. The staff are friendly, the food is fresh, it's a great place to watch a game and my single pals love the clientele, one got a girlfriend out of it.

It is an improvement over Uno's, but I would rather walk down to Iron Monkey.

I have to agree, I'm not sure what they are going for. I tried them a few times early on, but it's expensive and it seemed like the staff didn't have much beer knowledge (for a beer bar). There are other places with better and ever changing beer selections that will keep my business. Not a fan of the noise/sports bar vibe (if you can even call it that).

This is my go-to place with clients. I love this place. They've significantly improved and I have zero complaints.

This place is now serving brunch. We were walking by on the way to another place to eat and saw the sign. A great decision! The food was excellent, not overpriced, service was friendly and efficient. I didn't partake but they had a bloody mary table where you customize yours to your liking. There was all you can drink bloody marys and mimosas for 15 bucks. The brunch menu isn't small but it's not sprawling either. Omelets cooked perfectly not burned. The biscuits and gravy, while certainly not a traditional southern preparation, was outstanding. Hope you enjoy it if you check it out.

Went in last night for a drink. They were out of a lot of beers, but was still able to get something I hadn't tried before. Although we didn't eat, the food menu and the food we saw looked good, but kind of expensive.... $10 for a grilled cheese and $14 for some of the salads. It was a cool place though and it started to fill up a little around 9:30-10. Would definitely go back for a drink.

Feels like a bar to me... the menu was rather limited last night, but the owner mentioned their chef has a strong culinary background... I think there is a dining room in the back.

Nice. Looking forward to trying it. Does it really close at 1am on the weekends? So I'm assuming it's more of a restaurant than a bar?

Went last night - liked it.

I think the beer selection will draw a good crowd.
