3 people shot in Jersey City after insults are hurled at women, police say

Three people on their way to a Jersey City nightclub were shot early Saturday and two of the them were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, police said.

Called to Old Bergen Road and Linden Avenue at 12:27 a.m., police found three people with gunshot wounds surrounded by friends who were trying to provide assistance, Police Lt. Edgar Martinez said today.

One of the shooting victims said he and a group of friends were walking to a lounge in the area when some people started making derogatory comments about women in his group, reports said.

When an argument broke out, a person on a bicycle opened fire on his group, the victim said, according to police reports.
