Shackles and mask used to subdue out-of-control Jersey City female in Hoboken: police

Published: Tuesday, September 27, 2011, 3:02 AM
By Summer Dawn Hortillosa / The Jersey Journal

HOBOKEN A Jersey City female juvenile was charged Saturday with breaking a police vehicle window and spitting at an officer while resisting arrest, police said.

Responding to reports of a street fight at Third and Madison streets at around 5:30 a.m., police were directed to three Jersey City girls who others said were responsible for starting the trouble, reports said.

When police attempted to take the three juveniles to the police station so their parents could be contacted, two of the girls cooperated and got into a radio car, reports said.

But the third girl, a 17-year-old Myrtle Avenue resident, slapped and scratched a police officer, reports said.

She also kicked and shattered the passenger side window of a radio car, reports said.

She also yelled profanities and racial slurs and spit at an officer, reports said.

Leg shackles and a mask were needed to subdue her and strap her down on a stretcher, reports said.

The 17-year-old girl was charged with juvenile counts of aggravated assault, spitting on an officer, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and consumption of an alcoholic beverage, reports said.
