View Larger Map Pair of men rip gold necklace from Jersey City girl's throat; 1 suspect arrested, but necklace not recovered Friday, September 24, 2010 An 18-year-old Jersey City man was arrested on robbery charges only moments after he and another person allegedly ripped a gold necklace from the neck of a 15-year-old girl in Greenville in broad daylight on Wednesday, officials said yesterday. Charles D. Williams, of Armstrong Avenue, was arrested at about 3:30 p.m. on Wegman Avenue and positively identified by the victim as one of two men who ripped off her gold necklace valued at about $400, reports said. Police responding to Boyd and Bergen avenues after the 3:22 p.m. robbery spoke to the Gifford Avenue girl, who said she was walking at the intersection when the men grabbed her and robbed her, reports said. The officers got a description of the men and were scouring the area when they spotted Williams and took him into custody, reports said. The second suspect was not found and it does not appear the necklace was recovered. MICHAELANGELO CONTE
