Quickly nabbed in car burglary

Tuesday, October 06, 2009

Jersey City police nabbed a burglar who stole a GPS device from a BMW parked on Montgomery Street early Saturday after breaking one of the car's windows with a rock, reports said.

Officers spotted Robert Capuano, 41, of Coles Street, at 1:20 a.m. trying to open a door of a black 2003 4-door BMW parked in front of 278 Montgomery St., reports said.

Capuano, who is known to police, picked up a rock, threw it through the car's passenger side front window, reached inside, and took the $460 GPS device, reports said.

Officers followed Capuano to Wayne Street, where they made the arrest, reports said.
