You should've been around to watch the CONSTRUCTION of this building (and Grove PointE as well).

What do you expect? Another fast-built monsters. Look at the quality of the construction.
It?s terrible. Sidewalks are uneven and already broken (same with the Grove Pointe and Path Station). I was watching closely when they were finishing Grove St. Station. I was terrified that somebody accepted this poor quality work. I?m wondering who paid for the Grove St Path Station improvement. They didn?t even finish it properly. Pavers are broken and moving, some of them cut with the masonry blades during construction-I don?t want to mention the horrible look of unfinished, cinder block seating area (or whatever it is). I?m telling you right now-it will not survive more than 3 years. Big waste of money.

Club H is included in the rent of the building.

I would hardly look at it that $500 covers a membership.
Its more intelligent to think of the deal that has been struck as a corporate membership. Many companies pay for employees to use a facility in a certain building if it is located where the company is, or if not subsidize it....

Really come on now. Nothing is that cheap.

$10/day is lame but the gym is a steal.

I am pretty sure that we get 4 pool passes a day, at $10 each. When the day is over, the passes are no longer valid. The next day, we get another 4 passes, and so on.

If you're paying $500 per year and get free access to Club H, then you really have no right to be complaining about anything.

Somehow the words "rip off" when applied to living in a high rise cause me to hum:

Good Times.
Any time you meet a payment.
Good Times.
Any time you need a friend.
Good Times.
Any time you're out from under.

Not getting hastled, not getting hustled.
Keepin' your head above water,
Making a wave when you can.

Temporary lay offs.
Good Times.
Easy credit rip offs.
Good Times.
Scratchin' and surviving.
Good Times.
Hangin in a chow line
Good Times.
Ain't we lucky we got 'em
Good Times.

Does that mean that you can pay $40 and bring as many as 4 guests to the pool whenever you feel like it, or does that mean that you get 4 guest passes, and you can only bring a guest to the pool 4 times during the year?

If you can bring any 4 people you want to the pool as often as you want, then that seems pretty reasonable to me.

not that it matters but I'm still confused. Are they like beach badges? You pay $10 for each pass per year and it's good for the whole year or is it $10 each visit?

Pretty sure that it is 4 guest passes day, regardless of who it is.

If you can only bring guests 4 times a year, then that's a pain.

Yes, total for the apartment. Not too bad at all. Me and her would pay $2k alone on the gym a year.

I do not think the amenity fee is excessive. I live with my girlfriend in 50 Columbus. We do not pay any monthly fee for Club H, which would other cost $170 combined/per month, and access to the pool. There are over 400 apartments in the building. Charging $10 per guest pass is reasonable. Do we really want to have 2000 people there over July 4th weekend. I am sure most residents that go to the pool don't want it to be s mob scene. Yes, we have pretty weak front desk folks, but all in all, its pretty reasonable.

Does the amenities fee at 50 Columbus include the Club H gym? And the pool? If so, then $500/yr isn't a bad deal. If the gym is an additional fee then that's a bit much. I lived in 333 River (an Applied building) and we had conceierge but no pool and a small gym with older equipment so there was no amenity fee there, but I know my friend in Applied's Shipyard complex paid the optional amenity fee so she could use their pool and gym (which was larger and nicer). As for the pool guest pass, I think $10 per non-resident is a necessary fee (its the same at the Shipyard) because if they had no fee or if it was only $5 then the pool would be too crowded - I don't think they are trying to make a quick buck

Get everything in writing, you're going to find out later when you write the check. How else are they going to get their money without stating the fee of the "moan meant". It's not a shame it's a sham.

What does 50 Columbus mean to its tenants?

Great Views? Maybe
Good Location for commuters? Sure
How about the chance to rip off its tenants at any length Possible?

DEFINITELY!!!!

Lets list a few.

1. Amenities fee $500. Now what could be deemed as necessary since
there is a concierge service, I have compared the services provided to
those at another building. Liberty Towers offers concierge service and
when I think concierge there building comes close to the actual
meaning.

Holding doors, Actually assisting with packages. All not done as it is
in other "high class" buildings. What is this fee going too?

2. I recently decided to get my pool pass for my buildings pool. Aside
from leaning that I needed a pass, which seemed extreme, I learned
that the building forces you to purchase a guest pass with the limit
of 4 for $10 each.

I realize that limiting the number of guests at any one time might be
in the other tenants best interest, but to capitilize on having
friends visit is a shame and it's just sad that this money making
scheme would even be considered.

The logic of the quick buck is definitely at work here and I guarantee
that as the word spreads about the shady practices employed by this
building and its management tenants will not be so quick to renew
leases.
