No police officer should be subjected to this kind of attack. Ever. Are these feral wild dogs? Were these dogs released on police property with the intent to cause injury to the police?

Cop attacked by pit bull
Friday, October 26, 2007

A Jersey City police officer attacked by two pit bulls pumped two rounds into one of the dogs, but the injured dog attacked another officer before running off to die, reports said.

"Suddenly I observed two large dogs growling directly behind me," said a report by Officer Peter Evangelista, who was in the West District parking lot on Communipaw Avenue at 7:26 a.m. on Saturday when he was attacked.

Evangelista said the dogs came at him "in an extremely aggressive manner," but he yelled "Back off!" several times and they left for a short time, reports said.

"Suddenly and without warning they returned and immediately attacked," while Evangelista was standing between two parked cars, reports said. One pit bull lunged at Evangelista from about 2 feet away and he shot it twice in the upper body, "halting the attack," reports said.

By then two officers had come to his aid and the wounded dog bit Officer Jill Jaeger's leg. The dogs then ran away and the shot dog was found dead on nearby Madison Avenue, reports said.

You know the sad reality is that theres laws on the books with regards to animal restraints, i.e. Leashes and all you have to do is walk down any city block to see that most Dogs, including PitBulls are not Leashed .

Now, Huhm........How Come theres no enforcement, isn't this a quality of Life issued, whats the TRUE Priority in JC ??

Ya'll need to remind yrselfs of this question the nxt time you venture out to the Ballot box...

Hope yr hungry.....Food for Thought.

There is no pit bull problem in Jersey City.

No wolf packs either, no animals of any kind.

Were they stray dogs? this is scary, what if this was a child
or even an adult with NO GUN. 2 pitt bulls fighting together
will KILL YOU!! As if muggers arent enough. this makes me
wonder, is it time to get a gun permit?

Animal control should be on the street 24/7 to enforce the registration of animals law, so if a dog attacks we know who to sue.
Hate to think if these 'pets' had turned on an unarmed person or kid!
