Still exploring the neighborhood, found this candy shop that has been here since 1919. Any one been? They close pretty early so I have not made it there yet. Fischer Confections, established in 1919, is a family-owned candy shop offering handmade chocolates and other tasty treats.

Haven't been there, but I'd recommend Lee Sims Chocolates on Bergan. It has also been there a long time (4th generation of the same family currently runs it).

Welcome to the neighborhood, you will find that all the candy shops close early here also the bakeries. You can also try Al Richards in Bayonne which is about a 5 min car ride. That is one of the best things about living this far up you can shop, and get other amenities in Bayonne which is only few stops on the LR. Al Richards closes @ 6 P.M. they are packaged very nicely if you are looking for gifts, and they also have a website.

If you have a sweet tooth also check out Gary's sweet shop on
