Say it ain't so...

"MTV's infamous reality show "Jersey Shore" is scouting for new party grounds and the show's producers have their eyes set on Jersey City, the New York Post reported in today's editions.

The Post reports that sources say that Jersey City officials have been contacted regarding the acquisition of filming permits, but Las Vegas and Los Angeles are also being considered for the next season's locale.

Although the show has been optioned for another season, the cast has yet to obtain new contracts, the New York Post reported. "No decisions have been made," an MTV rep told the Post."

because it consistently gets high ratings and because the characters do a good job staying in the public eye

I really hope this comes to fruition...it'd be fun

Exactly what I thought when I heard about this. Just keep them south of Grand street. It was annoying enough when "Mercy" was filming a few years ago.

Hoboken would be a bad choice it is already a known Italian enclave why spoil it with these wanna-bees. J.C. is the Seaside of the north; I think Bar Arcade would be an even better choice. More in line with the crowd, it will attract. Although the Zep's outdoor patio could do well in the summer months.

To quote Mike the Situation ?what?s up wit all da negativity and hating??

It would really put JC on the map. (what map I don?t know) but people(?) from all over the world converge on $ea$ide now.

Would have really been cool if they set them up in a house in Bergen-Lafayette / Greenville. Although the people in da hood probably wouldn?t want them either.

Looks like it is only two of them?bummer.

You really must not get out much. Barcade might have people worthy of scorn, but guidos it does not have.

What the hell do those two suburban New Yorkers have anything, and I mean anything to do with Jersey City? Don't I speak for everybody when I say ... "WTF??"Quote:

I think the problem 07310 has is in making a distinction between low class and guido.

If, and its a BIG IF, Jersey Shore filmed in JC the resulting annoyances would be nothing compared to the issues people had with Mercy.

Mercy was a network funded dramatic series - which means lights, trucks, street closures, extras, trailers...etc.

Jersey Shore is a much more low-key project, usually consisting of 2-4 handheld cameras and a small crew shooting in a "run-and-gun" style. MAYBE a few lights inside dark locations, and more likely bigger crowds if people know in advance where Snooki plans on getting her hair did, but for most of us this will hardly be an issue.

Personally, I doubt it will happen. The amount of red-tape hoop-jumping required to shoot in JC is far more than a reality show is willing to put up with. And, while I may not respect the Jersey Shore, it is a damn shame that this town is so incredibly unfriendly to filmmakers.

Hobbies what are you talking about?

Look what Jennifer has to say about JC.
(she must be into fiction novels)

?Even Snooki and the cast of ?Jersey Shore? know that we have everything great restaurants, hotels, culture, diversity and proximity to New York City without New York City prices,? Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said in a statement.

?Those are many of the reasons people decide to move to Jersey City and why our city has become a choice of film producers who know we are home to great locations, great amenities and that we are business- and film-friendly,? Morrill added.

Buy the JJ....a real star!

I've produced four commercials that were filmed here and developed two films which eventually shot elsewhere. Maybe the beaurocracy is different if you're backed by an NBC budget, but in my more "independent" experience the ridiculous fees (including park fees, police fees, fire inspector fees.... All of which NYC doesn't have) and the exhaustive red tape made Jersey City a very unfriendly film environment.

That being said, I know the budget of Jersey Shore is significantly less than the budget of Mercy, therefore all the potential trouble may be too much of a headache for the production.

i am sure prices and values will plummet ...

we should welcome them with open arms ...

Yes, it would put Jersey City on the map again, for current pop culture. And for the short time this is part of pop culture, it would be great for Jersey City to benefit in terms of revenue from people coming to visit. I'm fan of the show, so I don't understand the hate from most posters.

Many reality shows have been filming in JC recently so I am assuming it is even easier for reality shows. Shows like Jerseylicious, Love And Hip Hop and House Wives of NJ all of done scenes here and Hoboken. I see it as a good thing for the city because it brings in more money. NJ is hot right now on TV and more and more Jersey themed shows keep coming out, we should cash in with the rest of the state. Just seeing some of the restaurants and cafes on the shows has me tempted to go because I never knew how nice some where or that they existed and I am from JC.

Only JWoww is from NY of the two Snooki is from NJ. People like to lie and say the "Jersey Shore" cast are mostly from NY but they are not. They just say that because they don't want people out of state to think people are like that in NJ. Anyone that has been to seaside knows It is a NJ/NY crowd just like if it was in Wildwood it would make sense to have a NJ/PA cast.

I hate to admit that I know this, but Snooki is from Marlboro, NY, not Marlboro, NJ.

Of the cast, two were born in NJ. Three were raised in NJ.

With our fair share of brain dead morons living in JC, this show will indicate high ratings from our local viewers and thus, a perfect location.

How is it "lying" when people say they are mostly from NY?
