So that's precisely the same as the tariff for Newport Health and Fitness.

We went by last night and talked to one of the partners. He said that there pre-sale was going to end on Sunday. Right now it is still $99 to join and $69.00 a month with a one year commitment.

Was walking by this afternoon - and there were like 4 fitness equipment delivery trucks parked along Newark & Barrow - looks like the equipment was getting loaded in :) I'm so excited for it to open!

Brickhaus is cheaper then NYSC btw. And all brand new equipment, a whole floor devoted to cardio and a juice bar. Plus the hours are extensive.

The owner said that they will offer a child care service. He showed us the room where it will be. Not sure of the cost but he said it would be reasonable.

Can non-Newport residents join? For a while you had to live in the area. Also - Brick Haus has free parking.

I just joined yesterday. The fee is $69 a month ($74 including tax) and the person I spoke to said they expect to be open by Labor Day. It looks like it'll be a nice gym.

Was there on Sunday, signed up with the hubby. Same pre-sale offers. Hard to say how enrollment is going - they say good but what can they say?

Still making assurances that it will be open by the end of the month. Group class room looks great!

Imp - from Craig's List, these appear to be positions opening at Brick House (it says "opening August 2007"):

Group exercise instructor:
http://newjersey.craigslist.org/spa/361784637.html

Group fitness director:
http://newjersey.craigslist.org/spa/361741455.html

Personal Trainers:
http://newjersey.craigslist.org/spa/361724158.html

makes me wish I got that ACE test out of the way...darn.

Does anyone have the phone number for the sales office? An address? A website? I am moving to the area next week and am a Cycling instructor and would like to speak with Michael. Any information you could give would be appreciated.

I noticed that Brick Haus will have plenty of high windows wich should give a lot of natural light on both floors.

To think about it $200 per year is not a bad deal, for less than .60 cents per day you have the convenience of not having to walk around with gym clothes.

Club H was supposed to be having a pool but, I heard they will not be having one anymore. From what I know of Brick Haus you will have a great club ,matching Club H but, will have much better price.

Thanks for the info though.

They do. That was the only thing I wasn't thrilled with. It's $200/yr and you have to pay for a whole year. But, at least they have them!

My husband and I just joined last night - they have a small sales office open on the columbus side of the building. Michael, an owner said that Sept 1 is probably the latest it will open, he is expecting arrival of all of the equipment in the middle of August. They are going to have lots of classes (kickboxing, step, body pump) too - which I really like :) Can't wait!

How do you get in to see the place, etc.? Do you need to make an apt.? or is it open for presale and people can just walk in?

It is on the corner of Newark and Barrow. It's about 3 times the size of NYSC in JC. There are triple or quadruple the number of treadmills/elyptical machines, steam and sauna (NYSC in JC doesnt have), brand new machines, juice bar and the hours are mon-fri 5am to 11pm and weekends 7am to 9pm. NYSC is open mon-fri 5:30 am to 9pm and closes at 4pm on the weekends. Needless to say, I joined this week and the initiation fee was waived and $69 per month vs NYSC $82 per month.

Checked the place today... Pretty big although it will be relatively limited in terms of benchs (~6; 2 incline only for ex). Well provided with elliptical/treadmills etc otherwise. No pool, no squad cage. They have bought from 3 providers in terms of machines. They love cables.

Presale: initiation $99 (I never understood the reason behind this one whether bureaucratic or for "free initiatic" lessons)+$69/mo
After opening: initiation $199+$74/mo
Opening in the fall...

Not terribly different from NYSC.
