I had the chicken chili for lunch. Very yummy. Grovester ws right-- a dollap of sour cream complimented the spiciness.

So far I've had two soups: the parsnip soup. DELICIOUS! (I wouldn't lie to you since we ran into the Shoprite parking lot)?

I also had the Thai Soup! Wonderful and VERY filling!!

The chicken chili is still defrosting.

There WAS a little mishap with the garlic soup. I SO wanted it but after I took it out of the microwave I tripped and it went all over my floor (by my fridge; even IN the fridge). At least I'll be vampire-free for a few days.

Please-- I'd like to know what people thought of my Curried Pumpkin soup. In hindsight, it seems a little boring given the wonderful soups we swapped.

Yum, yum! I hadn't tried any of my soups yet, but I had a delicious bowl of chicken chili today for lunch - it was great, and I had a spoonful of sour cream on top, it was perfect.

I've also wanted to mention that we had a very small turnout this year. My plan is to give it one more try next year, maybe with a little more advertising, and hopefully there will be a larger turnout.

Enjoy your soup everyone, thanks to those who came, and I hope to see EVERYONE there in 2010!

It was really nice meeting you all! And special thanks to Grovester for pulling it all together!

I'll be making a vegetarian soup this year.

I can think of nothing better than being snowed in for the weekend and cooking up a big pot of Garlic Soup. Perfect with croutons made out of homemade bread.

Fraulein, I hope you'll join us this year!

Just be glad I didn't start a new THREAD entitled, "Soup Swap in Jersey City - Does Anyone Know of One?" Cause that would have been really stupid....

It sounds fun, thanks for the info....however repetitive, boring, annoying it is for you more seasoned JC Listers/soup swappers to have to re-live...may god have mercy on my soul

Hee's what Grovester posted in this topic thread back at beginning:

Re: The Great Jersey City SOUP SWAP '07 #4

See, now you're getting into the nitty gritty rules that I'm going to have to lawyer up:

Yes, anything that can be (1) made in a soup pot/stock pot and (2) frozen in a quart and (3) reheated to a delicious soup-like lunch or dinner concoction and (4) served in a bowl is acceptable.

That includes, but is not limited to, chilis, stews and cassoulet.

Please also make note of your ingredients for the swap. You can do this by making a copy of your recipe (certainly appreciated if your recipient enjoys your soup and wants to duplicate it!) or by making a little tag on your quart container. (This allows for vegetarians, vegans, and people with allergies to know what they're getting themselves into.)

Any other questions?

Grovester: Suggest you apend the above and location (when you get) to every post you make as we do at Downtown Jersey City Watch for newbies here or those who have not participated before.

Time to pick a date for The Great Jersey City SOUP SWAP 2009.

The national soup swap is Saturday January 24, 2009 but we in Jersey City have traditionally been Sunday afternoon swappers.

Thus, I'd suggest Sunday, January 25, 2009.

Any objections or suggestions otherwise?

Oh, man. We had salmon in our fridge to eat last night, but then we were feeling lazy and had a White Star craving, so we ordered burgers, now we'll have to eat the salmon tonight.

Maybe I should follow Avanti's lead and bring some soup to my office.

Thanks again to everyone who participated, and to the mysterious stranger who stopped by with a donation to the soup pantry.

Thanks for another successful soup swap, I hope I'll see everyone again in 09!

Yeah, I dug into the chili last night. I've got the split pea at my office and the chicken w/ mole, black bean & rice waiting at home. The white bean with shrimp smells great and that won't last long, either. Hey, enjoy my pumpkin soup, 4bailey!

Today's the day! SOUP SWAP 08!

Fair warning! You have about seven-and-a-half hours right now to stir up some soup and get it in your freezer. Otherwise, you might regret missing it!

Hope to see everyone then!
