Looking for a recommendation for a personal doctor. I'm living downtown (Hamilton park), I'm a 32 year old guy, and I'm trying to find a doctor locally I can go to instead of the health clinic type places I've been going to at the behest of my new insurance provider. Thanks.

has a full voicemail inbox, and is closed according to the answering service.

I have been happy with Dr. Luhana at Newport Medical. The cosmetics of the clinic are not great, but he has been consistently good to me.

Is there a good general physician in the downtown area? I've been sick for weeks and it's not getting any better, so it's probably time for a doctor's visit. Would like to stay in / around downtown JC for convenience's sake.

TIA.

Dr. Raj is quite good, but that office is a mess. The staff is very disorganized, lots of turnover. Might not matter for normal situations but I had a condition that required frequent, regular visits for a while and it drove me insane.

I have worked with Dr. Raj(dr.Jeyachandran Rajasekaran) for years and he is my PCP. I totally recommend him, and Dr. Zaha too.

they both practice out of 99 Montgomery st.

I sort of don't want to tell you because maybe then he'll get to busy... but I will.

Dr. Jey Raj, but he goes by Dr. Raj. He is located at Montgomery and Warren on Montgomery beside Komegashi. I've been using him for years. He's really good.

Looking for a primary care physician in the downtown area.
Anybody have a good recommendation?

Any thoughts on Dr. Jeffery Pappert? Saw his ad in the latest Jersey City Digest.

Thanks!

I also opted to go to a Manhattan doctor.

I'm sure there are professional, reliable doctors in JC and Hoboken, but finding one has been a headache, and we're just a short PATH ride away from some of the best primary care physicians and specialists in the world.

Still no call from Dr. Ali on those test results btw. Unbelievable.

I'm at least as lazy as the next guy, but I've come around to the fact that you'll be MUCH better off going into the city. I had a gastric episode years ago that was undiagnosed even after E-room visits & office visits & it landed me in St Marys for a week. It recurred recently, and I went to a GI in Manhattan. He immediately sent me for a X-ray & then a CAT, and I was diagnosed and on meds that day. The GI confirmed that even in his experience getting a kid treated at home on LI that the city level of quality is higher.

A recent discovery is that there's a cluster of great docs around the Eastside Columbia-Presbyterian on 60th & Madison that's easy to get to with an almost no walking transfer from the PATH at 33rd to a R or N. It took me less than 45 min door to door. A bonus is that if you walk to the F at 63rd to get back it's a free transfer so the subway round trip is 1 fare.

I saw Dr. Sabia Ali for one year. She was around the corner from my home. I didn't feel too welcome. There was no enthusiasm from her. I was at the receptionist counter once. She was sitting at a computer behind there. It was just her, the receptionist and me. She didn't even look up to say hi, even though she should know that I am the next patient.

I decided to go to a doctor in Manhattan.

I noticed that the other female doctors are gone from the Portside Medical. What happened? Not enough business?

Customer service counts here too! Just like with tacos and falafels.

I have had superior treatment at Horizon Health Center by doctors Jeannette Sujovolsky and Mervet Asfour as an adult female, and my daughter sees Dr. Sodhi there as well. They have offices at Summit Avenue beside the DMV and at 714 Bergen Avenue, although the Bergen Avenue office is moving (yeah!) to 115 Christopher Columbus Avenue soon. Their number is (210) 451.6300.

Both offices have clinic hours as well as appointments. Staff is courteous and the doctors are thorough, personable, respectful.

Hey guys,

Had an abysmal experience with Dr. Sabia Ali at Portside Medical.

I followed through with a prescription she gave me for some testing and I've been unable to get her to tell me the results, despite repeated phone calls and assurances from the office that she would get back to me.

I was so annoyed that I ended up getting the report from the radiology center myself.

I've never had a doctor completely fail to get back to me with test results, and I'm at a loss as to why it happened in this case.

Figured it was worth passing along the story.

Does anyone know Primary Care Physicians offices with weekend hours? I'm a Nurse Practitioner Student looking to do my internship on the weekends and need a decent amount of hours. Any ideas??

Newport Medical (across the street for me...a big plus!)

Doctor Pranay Bhatt: I have no complaints (and I will not tolerate a doctor who makes me wait more than 15 minutes.)
He is a good doctor for those with some ideas of what they want and need...and that suits me fine. I hate getting argued with about my needs, especially when I am paying the bill.

They all take Oxford at Newport Medical and from what I hear they also have a good pediatrician.

I have always used a New York doctor, some of the best in the country, but after a few bouts of feeling like death warmed over and having to take the PATH train to see my MD I knew I had to have someone local. A raging fever and the PATH train are incompatible.

I've been going here since the late 90's.

Balacco & De Marco Family Practice aka Hoboken Family Practice
108 Washington St, Hoboken, NJ 07030
(201) 656-5688 ‎

Dr DeMarco is my doctor. Excellent place for emergency appointments/last minute and other issues. I highly recommend him. My friends have used Dr. Balacco and they liked him too.

Dr Witt ... you can't be serious.

A friend of mine wouldn't allow her to offer care or place a band-aid to his pet dog let alone a human being!

Dr. Perez is a very good doctor and has a great bedside manner. Be sure to tell your friend to get to the office by 7am so she can put her name on the waiting list.

There are some really good new doctors at Portside Medical. Dr. Marquis (used to be Fabrikant) and Dr. Kimble are great. They have limited hours, but if you are lucky enough to see one of them you will probably be very happy. They both do women's health as well as all the general practioner stuff, so I can get my pap done there, which saves me an extra doctor's visit. Good luck finding a new Dr.!

There is a Portside Medical. The entrance is on Dudley Street.

Portside Medical‎
150 Warren Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302-6443
(201) 309-3000‎

There are some reviews here

I went there last year and saw Dr. Sabia Ali. She was okay, but I didn't feel it was the right relationship. This year, I decided to go to a doctor in New York City. But, maybe you might like one of the doctors there.
