This report was on the Jersey Journal's "Now" website which has small articles that appear during the day. Hopefully there will be a more detailed report in tomorrow's jersey journal.

Valkin is right, I hope this sparks more of a response than having a self defense seminar.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!? Oh, so we should learn self-defense to deal with thugs? How about hiring more police officers and patroling and getting them off the streets?

How about in reaction to the attack, WARFA put pressure on our city leaders to increase police presence in and around JC?

I wonder what Troy's excuse for this will be? It wasn't a case of a youth gang or an illegally imported firearm.

Councilman's wife mugged
The wife of Jersey City Council President Mariano Vega fought off a mugger who got away with her purse last night, according to the president of a women's group she'd just attended a meeting of.

Sonia Vega was pushed into her own car around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at Second Street and Manila Avenue by a man who had been parked in a beige car across the street, according to Nidia Lopez of Women Acknowledged and Recognized for Achievement.

Mrs. Vega suffered a cut lip, Lopez told The Jersey Journal this morning.

In reaction to the attack, WARFA will host a self-defense seminar, Lopez said.
