Bought a bunch from Novick Hardware on Central Ave in the Heights. $2.50 each, if you buy 8 or more.

This was my second stop during my day of plant hunting. Good selection and relatively sane prices.

We went to Richfield Farms in Clifton last weekend...nice place with good selection of organic seedlings. Avoid buying your plants at big box stores:

A new study finds that half of all garden plants sold at big-box stores such as Walmart and Home Depot contain neonicotoids—pesticides that are toxic to bees and other pollinating insects. The study was conducted by the Pesticide Research Institute and by the environmental group Friends of the Earth.

The big box stores like Loews and Home Depot have tons of plants. In my opinion, the North Bergen Loews and Home Depot have better plants. I know that requires a car. But find someone with a car. It would be worth it.

5/11/2022: A big box store but the Home Depot on rt 440 is packed with plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, and vegetables.

PS- yeah the rt 440 Farms guy finally sold his property to a developer. I think they were hounding him for years to sell.

Great place on 36 North in Hazlet.

Stupendous selection of all plants--Dutch and Olga's. Worth the trip--you won't be disappointed.

36N in Hazlet.

Vegetable plants $1.49, Flats $16.00

Don't know if you're looking for a flat or just individual plants, but there's a great shop at a corner of Jersey Avenue a block NORTH of the Holland Tunnel exit traffic. Bought some nice plants there last week-
(Can't remember the name of the place!)

My go to shop on JFK Blvd. is long gone and it looks like the place on Rt. 440 closed shop. Where do you buy plants these days. The big box stores are a bit pricey when it comes to something like a tomato plant.
