Just as a follow up to my previous post: we have the washer and dryer from the Bosch Ascenta line. Reviews online are not that great, but most of the ones in Amazon seem to be based on an incorrect understanding of how these machines work, so keep that in mind.

In my experience, the machines work VERY WELL. Ventless is great in an apartment and to keep things tidy within small spaces. Since we don't have a water bill, I can't comment on their water efficiency, but online comments indicate they are very efficient in that regard. In terms of electricity, they use very little.

AJ Madison is a pretty good site for looking up what is available in washers and just about everything else.

I have bought a number of appliances through them. Their customer service has been pretty good at resolving the two times I had issues.

Till you all posted about this, had no idea that ventless dryers were even a thing, just now learning that these are the standard in many cities in Europe. Thanks for the info.

The water goes out the same drain pipe as your washer.
It condensates in the machine and is pumped out.

We have a 27" wide closet that can accommodate the wider 27" stacked units. Our 26 year old Sears Kenmore Wash Center (dryer attached atop a washer) died several months ago. We were, based on several neighbor's recommendations, going to get the LG stackable washer and dryer, both front-loading. But it would have been about an inch or less than the height of the door. We were shown the single unit ventless LG Washer/Dryer. It's one unit that is large enough to handle a king sized quilt, it washes then goes right into a drying cycle, if desired. Considering it's just my wife and I, it's keeping up with our needs. A full wash and dry cycle takes about 3 hours, and we are not left with those wet clothes you forgot to move from washer to dryer. So far after several months, both of us are very happy.

The unit was about $1500, and they also make a similar "compact" 24" wide model.

Wondering where does the water condense, and how much electricity does a ventless cost to run, compared to standard vented dryer?

We have the Bosch 800 series and they are great! The dryer is ventless and saved us money during renovation because we didn't need to vent to the outside. Bosch IMHO is the brand to go with, probably more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Anyone has feedback with the compact models from these brands?

Also, which brand generally has the "longest lasting" washers?

TIA

We have a Bosch stack (the washer and dryer are fully separate units, but designed to be stacked together) and it?s been 5 years without any issues other than the dryer needs to be ?unclogged? from time to time (one large and two cats results in lots of loose hair/fur) but the unclogging process is a simple one that takes a few minutes (remove all the filter parts, rinse and remove trapped hair/fur, and possibly do the same inside he filter area) and the dryer is particularly good at not damaging the fabric of the items being dried. The washer has been solid without ANY issues.
