Probably the same people who thank and tip waiters face to face can't stand for anyone to thank a cop or a firefighter... in a forum post. WTF is wrong with people these days.

Hey there's nothing wrong with a little recognition for god's sakes. Once I called the non emergency number when a fence outside a construction zone had fallen down and all the kids were walking past on the way to school and it was dangerous. The cops came in 5 minutes and I was thinking that was pretty great. So thanks for a job well done. No reason to get snippy.

Does it really warrant a special thank you when JCPD or JCFD actually do their jobs in a timely manner like they?re supposed to do? Demonstrates how low expectations are of both these departments.

We often hear stories about the JCPD and JCFD not responding to issues - just wanted to share a "good news" story today. Driving down Washington between Morgan and Bay, I noticed a huge hole on the side of the road where a sewer grate was supposed to be. I called JCPD (201-547-5477) and the dispatcher told me he would have the JCFD respond. A few minutes later, a JCFD truck rolled up and examined the situation. I don't know what the outcome was as I had to get on with my day, but I appreciated such a quick and professional response.

Thanks JCPD/JCFD for responding.
