JERSEY CITY -- Authorities have released surveillance video hoping the public can assist in locating the driver who fatally struck a 63-year-old woman and left her in the street to die.

Theresa Florence, of Jersey City, was crossing Grand Street near the Johnston Avenue intersection at about 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 17 when she was struck by a silver four-door sedan, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement. The car continued to drive west after hitting Florence.

Police were initially called to the intersection on Wednesday morning by the driver of an SUV who realized he had struck the woman. It was determined that driver inadvertently struck Florence after she had already been hit by the silver sedan, officials said.
