The Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association (HPNA) have neglected to announce publically their nominations for elections on their November newsletter. For whatever reason (forgot? too busy?), it's unacceptable.

The HPNA are regulars at the City Council and Planning Board meetings and they claim to represent the community of Hamilton Park. But ask people around town what they think of the HPNA and you might get an earful, and some of it isn't so nice! Others will ask "who are they"?

They have six officers and 10 trustees. And each November, their seats are all up for grabs!

The HPNA have a reputation for being a "private club" and when residents are not encouraged or welcomed to get involved, and when Officers that have different opinions are asked to resign and worse, are no longer invited to their board meetings, then there's a problem.

It's understandable, that many folks do not have time to get involved. But then, there are those of us that do have time and want to be involved. It's unacceptable for the HPNA to neglect holding nominations this November and to delay another month or two until they are ready.

Next HPNA Meeting is Wednesday Oct. 2
7:30 pm
Coredero School, Erie Street, bet. 8th & 9th

If the HPNA does not welcome new people to it's board of directors or fails to hold democratic elections on an annual basis, then we don't need them representing us!
