I hear they hired Dawn Zimmer as a flood wall consultant, so this won't happen again

Anybody have any news? Last time I walked by they had permits in the window but they were dated December 26th. I want our long national nightmare to end. Nothing in the area comes close to Taqueria. Not Chilango, or the new place that has burgers on their menu along with authentic Mexican food. Gross.

I LOVE AND MISS YOU. PLEASE COME BACK.

Did Taqueria ever open back up? I just tried calling their number to see if they were open today, but I got an error about the number being disconnected.

TheTacoTruck, why are you sending me harassing private messages? It gets your thread back to life but it makes you look crazy.

I confess. I was a former hater. But I just finished a pork taco and a beefsteak entree. I'll put up with the horrors at the counter. The food is incredible. I mean...incredible.

The tacos from here are AMAZING, so good and they rival Taqueria's, only problem is they only use one tortilla instead of 2 so they are messy, but ZERO attitude. The woman who runs it is a sweetheart as is the cook.

Quick story, I brought relatives to Taqueria a few weeks ago, RAVED about there food. My sister had a dunkin donuts coffee with her, they told her no outside drinks or beverages. I get it, I do, but when she asked if they had coffee she could buy they said no, it's the afternoon, no more coffee, she said she would buy a soda, still no dice. Whatever. I'm just low class Jersey City folk I guess.

That's really creative. Kind of reminds me of this Seinfeld episode... except that guy was a soup "nazi" and not a "nazzi"

Not only to Dorada for tacos, but also to the many Italian delis and restaurants in Bayonne. Somehow Bayonne gets little love on JClist (duh), but I like it. Its Italian and Polish food rivals JC. Apparently tacos do, too.

Yes. I just got back from there this afternoon. I visit them often. Great, great food. Nice laidback setting.

The food is amazing. The tacos are easily 2 to 3 times filled in more than a Taqueiria.

I am sure most people don't want to hear this....but there definitely appears to be truth to both sides of this on going debate.

The owner does seem a bit of jerk....so i wouldn't be surprised some(not all) of his staff are the same way. Thus people have complaints.

On the other hand, this place is popular and loved by many...which means they do a great deal right. So for the people with the complaints...example lady who was charged an extra 2 bucks...you should have brought your concern to the restaurant first and see how they would have handled it first.

And for the record. I have been to Taqueria once. My experience was okay.....but i definitely sensed a great deal of attitude.

Pass the popcorn....because this thread i sense will go on an on my friend........

I'm never disappointed with Taqueria (nor am I with Zeppelin Hall). Obviously the complaints are from the minority because the place is packed everytime I've been in there for lunch. Keep making those delicious tacos and I'll be a patron for life. If you have a problem with them then give them a review on Yelp, stop going and end it there.

maybeMoving, both places (Taq and ZH) are okay. You are correct in saying that in Internetz sometimes a vocal minority will skew the picture. But that's why the readers should be intelligent about it, and separate an agenda from a real deal. It is not that difficult. Worst case, go to Taqueria and check them out. Not terrible, and I actually like a bit of a a tude; it fits the area.

This thread must represent a very vocal minority. I went to Taqueria for the first time last weekend (I'm new here) and actually found the service friendly. We had a takeout order as well as an eat-in order and the staff actually timed the takeout to be ready when we were leaving. That's good service! On top of that the tacos we had (carnitas, bistec, chorizo) were incredible.

Hopefully the crowds at their business make the owners realize that MANY people in Jersey City are very happy to have this place in their backyards and that not everyone is wishing them to shut down and move out.

We just moved from Manhattan and between Taqueria and Zeppelin Hall I'm beginning to wonder if I have a skewed perspective on service and crowds. We've enjoyed both of them and they seem to be two of the most maligned places on this board.

If the customer has a receipt that says $25 and they were charged $27, I'd like to know that and am glad they posted. I doubt Taqueria is capable of a major skim scam but they should be with it enough to get their card charges right. And if they've made a mistake they should fix the problem in a gracious way. That's really basic good business practices.

I have to agree with TacoTruck that if you are posting here about being mischarged instead of calling them/going in to give them a fair chance to fix it, or at least calling your credit card company to contest the charges, it makes me wonder if there truly was an error or if you are misremembering the $2 worth of soda you added onto your order at the last minute or something. It's this sort of grey area pettiness that makes people stay on their side and think that the negative reviews are just people being dumb. And frankly a $2 error is a pretty dumb and petty reason to stop going to a place that has treated you well for years if there is nothing more to the story than that.
