It's more original than the usual "I got hacked by somebody" excuse, at least.

"Webb posted a now-deleted rambling explanation for the screenshot.

?Curious by nature, I wanted to test the suggestion that somehow, lurking out in the pornographic world there is some evil operator waiting for the one in a gazillion chance that a candidate for federal office would go to that particular website and thereby be infected with a virus that would cause his or her FEC data file to crash the FECfile application each time that it was loaded on the day of the filing deadline, as well as impact other critical campaign systems,? he wrote.

Porn gaffe trips up N.J. native running for Congress as conservative

Craig McCarthy | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
on May 17, 2016 at 9:35 AM, updated May 17, 2016 at 9:39 AM

Mike Webb, a current U.S. Congressional hopeful in Virginia, is a Jersey City born and bred politician described as a "Baptist Sinner Saved By Grace" on his Facebook election page.

That same page was the center of a slew of social media ridicule Monday, after the conservative candidate uploaded a screen shot of his browser featuring two tabs easily identified as pornography, according to multiple national and local news outlets.

The tabs read "IVONE SEXY AMATEUR" and "LAYLA RIVERA TIGHT BO...," saved screen grabs revealed.
