A tense scene played out this afternoon on Mercer Street, with heavily armed police officers responding to a hostage call.

The incident happened between Baldwin and Summit avenues sometime around 12:30 p.m.

The suspect was believed to have entered the home with some type of weapon and then pointed it at the victim. Police lead a shirtless man out of the home at around 1 p.m.

Nearly a dozen people were removed from the house and kept to the side while police worked on securing the building
