Is the bakery still at this location? It's not mentioned on their website.

Peccarros has been baking their bread in Hoboken for some time now. I'm not sure there will be much of a difference bringing it here

They bake at night (around 8:00pm), so the heavenly morning smells may be wafting from Golden Grill or somewhere.

The neighborhood has been smelling like HEAVEN in the mornings for the past few weeks or so ... I think Antique is the reason.

well you might need an investigative article for the answer. I believe the oven at Pecoraro's was rebuilt and they had been bringing bread from Antique's oven over for the past year or two. and the bread is now similar to Antique style.

it is very subjective, but I always preferred the breads from the old Pecoraro's and in Hoboken, Marie's (around the corner on 2nd St. (while now condos, I think Marie's still bakes commercially on the westside of jersey city.)

however, Antique's (like 2nd St. Bakery), always had great stuffed breads, notably the pepperoni, sausage, prosciutto and spinach breads along with croissants and muffins. and yes, focaccia pizza.

and actually, Antique was late to the game, only opening in the late 1980's.

So did they take over Pecoraro's, or merge with it, or what? I noticed the sign up the other day. Would be sad to not have Pecoraro's sausage bread or foccacia anymore.

That is good news.... there will be lines, but you won't have to worry about parking.

Antique Bakery has moved from Willow Ave in Hoboken to 279 Newark here in Jersey City. In my opinion they make the best bread ever. Anywhere. I stopped in today and the price of the regular bread is the same as it was in Hoboken but they are using the existing brick oven the 279 Newark property already had in place. If you doubt my assertion about the bread, go try some. But be warned that once you try Antique Bakery bread you will be destined to be forever disappointed with all the other bread. For the rest of your life you will find all other bread to be either bland, boring or somewhat disappointing, depending on where you are.
