have been in the VVP area for years and there is no parking sticker enforcement. I have a neighbor who has street parked his car with out of state tags and no sticker for 5 years.

Once in a blue moon the parking types get cranky and issue tickets for parking too close to an intersection, that's about it...

Non-residents that WORK in a zone permit area can submit a pay stub proving they work in a particular zone can purchase a permit for the year for $300.

Reserved parking on Columbus and Pearl, parts of Warren, on Jersey over by the hospital) ANYONE can purchase monthly parking - non-resident or resident.

Clearly experiences have varied. Perhaps based on block? I've been here for 15 years and I can tell you that to this day about 1/3 of the cars on my block do not have permits on any given day.

And $5 per day for visitor passes during week days - you can buy up to 10 visitor passes at a time.

It's $300 for non-residents per year and $15 for residents. It's been like that for a long time.

Wow, that's news to me. I wonder exactly how much they cost and if there's a limit to how many the city can/does issue?

Here's a question: I live around the corner from Hamilton Park and yesterday I parked my car on Coles between 9th and 10th behind a Mini Cooper with a CANADIAN license plate and a JC parking permit. How is this even possible!?

I remember the hoops I had to jump through to get my parking permit when I moved to JC (not only did I have to prove that I was a JC resident with a utility bill, etc. but I also had to update my registration to reflect the fact that I'm a JC resident) and I cannot believe that someone FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY, let alone another state was issued a JC parking permit!

This happens on every other street too, you just don't notice it as much because it's not quite as annoying.

I might believe this if this hadn't been going on WAY before the pedestrian plaza was even an idea. Why would gypsy grill and Helens delivery guys be parking their cars a block away from their storefront when they have the entire block that their actual storefronts are on to double park?? There is definitely something going on with that bodega and it for sure isn't just weed. I don't care what people do but it's pretty ridiculous how JCPD completely ignores it when it's right in front of them. Someone is definitely getting paid off to turn a blind eye.

omg, I know lots of residents in Harsimus Cove including me who have had family visit and received tickets for not having a zoned permit. So we constantly have the yellow temporary permits for our guests.

And the Parking Authority office has a a parking lot right next to it, usually with many open metered spaces...

As for the original post, I get a permit ticket roughly every 3 years, which is convenient because the ticket is 45 dollars, which is exactly how much I saved from not buying the permit for the last 3 years. That, plus that obnoxious trip to the Heights. Ugh, parking on central. Also, god help you if you don't bring a checkbook. Who doesn't take cash? I thought this note was legal tender for all debts public and private?

Not for nothing but permits are renewable by mail.

Considering the crowd it draws I would be surprised if it's just weed. They are clearly paying someone off to turn a blind eye with the amount of cops that linger in that area.

They really should have closed newark all the way to Barrow, not just to Erie. I know that'll irk people, but the neighborhood says there's a major speeding problem on Erie and it would limit traffic, and it would simultaneously stop the nonsense parking at that corner with Barrow. Anyway, pardon the diversion from the original post topic.

I did catch them issuing tickets for resident permits (they were doing it while ticketing for the street cleaning side) on third street last week. It looks like they have finally decided to enforce it? How about they busy themselves ticketing all the idiots who turn the corner of Barrow and Newark Ave into a parking lot?? Does anyone know what that crappy bodega sells that requires that people to drive there and park in front of it 24/7?

They've always enforced it.

Got a ticket years ago when my sister parked overnight on my block - did not know I needed a visitors parking sticker (since I didn't own a car, all things parking was a mystery to me), was only aware of street cleaning regulations.

After 15 years in JC, today for the first time I saw a parking authority mobile ticketing cars that did not have zone permits. This happened in Harsimus Cove. I did a happy dance.

Could this be a new beginning!? This enforcement is so long overdue!
