Not in JC, but if you want something off the beaten track try Caf? Tayla in Bayonne. I've enjoyed their pancakes and their Turkish coffee is special. Plenty of Turkish treats besides regular diner type food.

I tried GP this weekend, and the pancakes did not really work for me. The texture was too... goopy.

City Diner will be up next.

Short Grain on Marin and Montgomery has some delicious pancakes. It's not very traditional and a bit pricey but a nice change from Brownstone.

I third GPs. I was really surprised how good they were when I tried them.

Highly recommend the pumpkin pancakes at the Light Horse Tavern in Paulus Hook area. Actually, their whole Brunch menu is pretty appetizing, don't miss it!

I will second the ricotta pancakes at GPs at Hamilton Park. They were wonderful.

City Diner has excellent french toast and pancakes. Short walk from Exchange Place Path/Light Rail - and easy to find an open parking spot Sundays. They deliver too - but takes ages.

Hopefully, the title says it all. ;) The food at Brownstone isn't too bad, but I'm tired of the lines, the crowds, and the slow service. What say you?
