The forgotten tucked away area of town. Not knowing how far apart the stations will be from each other maybe they could put one near Mosquito Park or Terrace Park. Somewhere centralized or easily accessible.

How it should be:

BIKE DOCK NEAR YOUR FRONT DOOR --->JC PATH Station (or Light Rail stop) _________Manhattan Bike Dock--->JOB

How it sounds now:

Downtown PATH--->Uphill Somewhere

Who doesn't love our fellow city wards, you guys all rock.. but we live in a commuter town, and it's not worth $150/year just to visit the other parts of it?well, maybe Little India.

Anyone suggesting JC'ites crave inter-ward bike travel is seeking your vote next election.

It would be great if there are enough stations and bikes to make last-mile use possible for a lot of people... not sure if that will be the deal we get (seems unlikely, especially outside of DTJC).
I just renewed my Citibike membership for another year, so I'm rooting for a successful launch here in JC.

I think the point is multi-faceted, respectfully. A large use of the system in NYC is "the last mile"; i.e., the mile between one's home and the train, or one's work and the train. That's exactly how I use it in Manhattan. I'd much rather take a 3-minute bike ride than a 12-minute walk.

Thanks for posting the map, Hats.

That said, the map only shows 18 or 19 stations - rather than all 35 - so hopefully there will be more sprinkled around. It would definitely make sense to have stations in Hamilton Park and Paulus Hook.

I think the pedestrian plaza would be a great place for one, but possibly not a better place than Grove Square Triangle.

It will play out well when they see how much money they get in a law suit for blocking an active lane while double parking.

As I understand it my NYC citibike membership will now transfer seamlessly into the Jersey City citibike program as soon as the system goes online. And as I understand it I will not have to pay any additional fee for the service I will now be able to enjoy in both cities. What's not to love?

When it was announced Jersey City would not join with Hoboken in a shared bike program there was some criticism. Now I only wonder why Hoboken doesn't or didn't want to join citibike as well. Wouldn't THAT make more sense than the route Hoboken appears to be contemplating, that of inventing their own home grown system? People that wanted Hoboken and Jersey City untied under the same program should be lobbying Hoboken to get onboard with citibike too. I suppose this would mean a citibike membership would be good in all three cities? But is it really as simple as that? Was Hoboken even offered the chance to join?

Will these share bikes be allowed in the pedestrian plaza? Just curious?

You have people in this city who say that if you spend money on something, that you have to divide it by six and parcel it out equally among the wards. And I suspect Fulop is sensitive to criticism towards any program that would focus on downtown, because he hears that criticism even when that's not the case.

That's really interesting, but so far Motivate has only failed to deliver on its promised installations in New York City. 35 stations hardly seems like enough even for the downtown, and definitely not enough to cover all six wards.

JC Bike Share Will Roll Out Citywide
July 16, 2015 Jennifer Hughes Community News

The city and the company that will run the soon-to-be launched bike-share program won?t yet release many details of Jersey City?s bike-share program, from the precise location of stations to ? most importantly ? the sponsor that will give the program it?s name and dollars when it rolls out in September.

But one element that has been cemented will make Jersey City?s program unique compared to many other bike shares around the country. Instead of starting in one concentrated neighborhood, Jersey City?s program will launch city wide, with docking stations in all six wards.
