Lox 'n Learning Program's "Sounds Jewish Doesn't It?" performances, which will feature musicians Dr. Isabelle Ganz and Jed Distler, will take place on June 7 at Congregation B'nai Jacob, 176 West Side Ave., Jersey City.

Ganz and Distler's performances will demonstrate the evolution of Jewish folk songs, Yiddish Theater melodies, and cantorial chant. Performances will begin 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of Congregation B'nai Jacob after a $5 lox and bagels brunch at 10 a.m.

Mezzo-soprano Ganz has had a long and varied career in numerous musical fields. Beginning as a pianist, she was a soloist with the New York Philharmonic at age 10. At 20, she formed a folk singing duo with her first husband, Peter Gardner. 'The Gardners' were the opening act for Joan Baez, Judy Collin, Bob Dylan, The Smothers Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel and many others.
